Dexter, Missouri - The first varsity game of the SCAA Tournament began with the #4 Dexter Bearcats taking the court against the #6 seed Puxico Indians.

It was an exciting game with fans on their feet cheering for each team.

Dexter tallied the first nine points of the game to take a 9-0 lead with a little over four minutes remaining in the first quarter.  It was a great start for the Bearcats, but the Indians rallied back to tie things up 17-17 in the middle of the second quarter.  Half-time score 24-24.

The third quarter proved to be all defense as they held each other to only 7 points.   At the end of the 3rd quarter 31-31.  By now everyone was on their feet hoping one team or the other would pull ahead and win, but with just two minutes remaining on the clock Dexter pushed forward and tied things up once again 46-46 taking them into a 4 minute overtime period.

The Bearcats scored first in each of the four quarters, but it was Puxico who scored first in overtime.  At the end it was Puxico's Seth Luttrull who hit a bucket in the paint with 28 seconds left on the clock to force a 50-50 tie.  Luttrull was fouled by the Bearcats and hit a one-pointer from the charity stripe to pull ahead 51-50.  Ethan Flowers tried to sink a basket with just 2 seconds left in overtime, but Puxico rebounded the ball and landed the victory.

D.J. Dowdy had a team-high 13 points and was 5 of 6 at the free throw line.  Ethan Flowers tallied 11 points for the Bearcats including one trey.  Peyton Pollock scored 10 points including 2 treys and was 2 for 2 at the charity stripe.

Puxico’s Zack Tucker tallied a game-high 21 points hitting 9 baskets and was 3 of 6 at the charity stripe.  Austin Teichman #24 hit 14 points including 1 trey before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
