Holcomb Hornets Defeated the Richland Rebels

Bloomfield, Missouri – The Holcomb Hornets defeated the Richland Rebels in game #12 of the 57th Annual Bloomfield Christmas Tournament.  Richland wore the home colors.  This was the last consolation game of the day at Bloomfield. 

Marcus Grayson had a game-high 25 points for the Rebels including two treys.  Tristan Wamble calculated 10 points and two treys.

Holcomb’s Bub Davis recorded a game-high 21 points.  Ryan Reeves followed with 20 including two treys for the Hornets.  Cameron Clark tallied 16, Skyler Johnson added 13 and Preston Sikes recorded 12 more points.

Bloomfield, Missouri - 
The Bulldogs vs the Bulldogs!  Van Buren and Portageville went head to head in a battle that seemed to be all Portageville until the fourth quarter when Van Buren came alive. 

The Bulldogs of Portageville led early on and ended the first quarter with a five-point lead.  At the end of the first half, Van Buren had narrowed the margin to just one point.  The Portageville Bulldogs were ahead 26 – 25.

Van Buren lost steam quickly in the 3rd quarter as the Portageville Bulldogs increased their lead by 14 points and outscored them 23 – 9.  Score at the end of the 3rd quarter was 47 – 35 with Portageville with a comfortable lead.

What happened next is anyone's guess.  Van Buren came alive and tied the game 50 - 50.  A couple of fouls on Portageville and Van Buren took advantage taking the lead with just 44 seconds remaining.  Increasing the lead by 4.  Portageville fans were on their feet screaming defense.  A time out was called and the crowd fell silent!

With just 6.4 seconds left on the clock a 3-pointer by Portageville and it was a one point game.  Van Buren just needed to hold onto the ball and they would win.  A foul sent them to the line adding two points.  With just 1/2 second left on the clock, Van Buren Throws it long and the buzzer sounds!  Van Buren wins by three!

East Prairie Eagles Defeated by the Puxico Indians

Bloomfield, Missouri – The #14 seed Puxico is making its way through the ranks with a win over the East Prairie Eagles.  The Indians looked good on the court and were able to capitalize on many of their possessions.

Puxico’s Zach Tucker had a game-high 23 points hitting five of his six attempts at the charity strips.  Four other Indians were in double digits.   Garrett Payne hit for 13 including 3 treys.  Corey Pratt hit 2 baskets for 2, 2 treys and was 2 for 2 in free throws.  Austin Tiechman tallied 16 points and Tim Hancock contributed 12 more.

The East Prairie Eagles have not faired so well in the Bloomfield Tournaments over the years and this year was no exception.  However they had five of their players scoring in double digits.  Damion Tipler tallied a game-high

Bloomfield, Missouri – In the first consolation game of the day, the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders defeated the Doniphan Dons 60 – 52.

The Crusaders were able to put 11 points between them and the Dons in the first quarter and cruised into halftime with a small lead of just seven points.

Jack Lake #45, a senior, tallied a game-high 22 points for the Crusaders with ten of those points from the charity stripe.   Junior guard Ryan Palmer #13 collected 18 points including three treys.  He was the only Crusader to score a 3-pointer.

Doniphan’s leading scorer, Wyatt Eaton tallied 17 points including one trey.  Clay Payne #4 scored 14 points including two 3-pointers.  Lucas Moe also shot a trey.

Saxony Lutheran will continue their quest on Saturday, December 28th at 1:00 p.m. against the #8 seed Holcomb Hornets.

Lady 'Cats Cruise to the Championship Game

Brosely, Missouri - The Lady Bearcats are making every game count as they cruise into the championship game set for Saturday evening.  The 'Cats are now 9-0 on the season and what a season it has been so far. 


The Dexter varsity girls’ basketball team is just one win away of a 3-peat at the Lady Royals Classic.  They defeated Twin Rivers 85-28 in the championship semifinal Friday evening.  These girls are quite impressive on the court and really work well together as a team.

Dexter had a very comfortable lead at half-time leading Twin Rivers 50 - 11.

Five of the 'Cats were in double digits.  Both Paige Patterson #22 and Melanie McKuin #11 had game-high points of 16 each.  Erika Cobb #15 and Hannah Noe #10 tallied 15 points apiece.  Alison Jarrell #12 contributed 12 points including 2 treys for Dexter.

Hannah Noe #10 and Sydney Rogers #21 each added a trey for the Bearcats.

The Lady ‘Cats will play the #2 seed Neelyville in the championship game Saturday evening.  Game time 6:30 p.m.
