Pre-Game Interview with Bearcat's Coach Peden

Dexter, Missouri – The ShowMe Times and Dexter’s head coach were able to sit down and discuss the much anticipated Homecoming game tonight.  “The guys have been working hard all week and are ready for a big win,” commented Dexter’s Head Coach Justin Peden.  “We have been looking at some different things offensively to counter the speed New Madrid County Central has.”

It’s homecoming in Dexter tonight and every Bearcat fan is ready to tailgate and cheer for their favorite football team.  With all the festivities and the first ever Fall Community Tailgate Event at the Bearcat Event Center prior to the game, the Bearcat Nation is high on SPIRIT!!

The Bearcats seem to be prepared; however they injury bug has bitten a few of the players.  “A lot of younger guys have stepped in and taken on the responsibility of being varsity guys.  I am really pleased with the development of players like Jake Adams, Tyler Stephenson and Carson Dean,” stated Coach Peden.

When asked about New Madrid County Central and their ability to score, Coach said, “New Madrid has a lot of speed and plays the game fast.  They have the ability to score in bunches and Coach Pixley will have them ready to go for sure!”

Both teams will be competitive Friday night.  The New Madrid County Central just lost their homecoming to the mighty Caruthersville Tigers 42-0 and are looking for a win against the Dexter.

The Bearcats with a rather tough start to their season and some unfortunate press have held their heads high and have played admirably.  “I just hope the community knows that I am 100% dedicated to this school, this program and this community.  Nothing is more important to me than being a positive force for my payers.  My family and I live here and hope to be a part of a great community for a very long time! “

The ShowMe Times would also like to congratulate Coach and Mrs. Jennifer Peden on their impending delivery of a little sibling for Jaxson!  We wish them well!

Spirits are definitely high as the Bearcats just beat the Kennett Indians last Friday night.  Defeating their old coach, Aaron Pixley was bitter sweet.  They had ties wit their old coach, but they needed a win to demonstrate their capabilities and gain a stamp of approval in the community.  Now they have to go up against his brother,  Arlen Pixley.

New Madrid is 2-3, Dexter is 1-4.  New Madrid leads the series having defeated Dexter 18 times in the last 27 times they competed including a heartbreaking loss in 2012, 28-13.

What tricks do the Bearcats have in their paws?  Coach Peden isn't going to give New Madrid any advantage in this interview, but he did say, “Installing a new offense and creating a new persona for the program takes time.  I am very confident that this season will be a successful one.  Everything is coming along very well and I know that given time this will be an incredibly successful program!  GO BEARCATS!”

Missouri - A Bump Back Up

Forecast: Following record low pheasant counts last summer, Missouri’s ringneck population has rebounded, albeit slightly.

“Pheasant numbers were higher this year, as compared to last year in the northern part of the state, with numbers highest in the northeast and northwest portions of the state,” reports Beth Emmerich, Agricultural Wildlife Ecologist with the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Warmer, drier weather this year appeared in June, which likely increased later nesting efforts. Missouri’s primary pheasant range is the northern 2 tiers of counties. Last year, 6,400 Missouri pheasant hunters bagged just under 20,000 roosters.
