Dexter, Missouri – The JV Bearcats had a most productive day at the JV SCAA Tournament, winning over the Bloomfield Wildcats by a score of 53 – 29.
Coach Shawn Guethle said, “We played very good team defense tonight. Bloomfield has several weapons and we worked extremely hard on defense to make sure they didn’t get many good looks at the basket and limited them to one shot on most trips with good rebounding.”
Dexter’s Austin Chesser, #10 was on fire tonight with a total of 27 points to lead the Bearcats to the win. “Offensively, he got us off to a great start with 20 points in the first half and kept it going in the second,” stated Guethle. “Our guys did a good job feeding the hot hand of Austin and finding him good shots,” continued Coach Guethle.
At half, the Dexter Bearcats were leading 20 to 8 with Bloomfield’s leading scorer only hitting one field goal during the first quarter. Tyler Battles went on to score 12 more points in the game for the Wildcats, but it was not enough to come from behind and overpower the Bearcats.
“Bloomfield is a good team and they made a run at the end of the second and beginning of the third quarters with their press, but we withstood it and answered with a couple of our own,” commented Guethle.
The Dexter JV Bearcats will play in the JV SCAA Championship against Bernie Mules today at 7:00 p.m. in Bloomfield. “Hopefully we can come out with the same intensity tomorrow night and give the Mules a run for their money!” exclaimed Coach Guethle.
Playing tonight for Dexter will be some of the finest basketball players around. Blake Horton (#3), Austin Aldridge (#4), Noah Kronk (#5), Harley Warren (#11), Jacob Padigo (#12), Jacob Murdock (#21), Alex Whitehead, Ethan Flowers (#24), Cole Renken (#33), Addison Moore (#34), Tyler Heil (#45), and Oliver Warren (#50). Go JV Bearcats!!
Playing tonight for the Bernie Mules are Caleb Pulley, Andrew Northern, Tyler Battles, Nathan Newell, Cameron Pulley, River Chism, Kendrick McCullough, Austin Bond, Nate Cazee, Brendon Battles, Noah Vandiver, Reyton Hartle, Cole McClard, and Bailey Vaughn.

With the intensity of the Stoddard County Tournament heating up, the Dexter Bearcats will have tough competition tomorrow night as they take on the Advance Hornets.
Dexter will be coming off a huge victory over Woodland Monday night as is Advance with their huge win over the Richland Rebels. Both Dexter and Advance rolled through the first night of the tournament with big victories of at least thirty-points.
Both teams are feeling confident about victory, but only one team will be able to continue on in the tournament.
With the County Tournament being single-elimination, the pressure is put on both teams even harder.
The Dexter Bearcats had a rough start to the season, but have proved their talent each game. The Bearcats take each competition as a new oppurtunity for victory. Coach Rob Nichols and the Dexter Bearcat team are looking to be back-to-back Stoddard County Tournament First-Place Champions!
With their eyes set on first place, they must first get through tomorrow night's tough competition against the Hornets. The Advance team has posted an impressive record this year and have no trouble on the offensive side of things.
Tomorrow night's game is set for 7:00 P.M. in the Bloomfield gymnasium. It is sure to be an exciting game as both teams are badly wanting the victory.
Good luck to both teams!
