The T.S. Hill Middle School volleyball team is on a hot streak right now - both the seventh and eighth grade squads remain undefeated, and haven’t had a game go to a third set yet. The teams faced Poplar Bluff on Thursday (March 31) night at home, and won both games in two sets.
In the seventh grade match, Mary Kate Miller earned top server honors with five points and helped lead the Lady ‘Cats to a 25-10 win. Delaney Pullen, Amber Spence, and Julia Hahn all had three aces in the set. Hahn and Ashlyn Werneck also had a kill. During the second set, Werneck racked up four points for top server honors. Kendall Adams had three aces. Werneck and Hahn each had two aces. The Lady ‘Cats won the set 25-14.
In the eighth grade match, the Lady ‘Cats easily won the first set 25-8. Courtney Potts had nine points off serves - five of which were aces. Shyann Jines and Jessica Lindsey each had two kills.
In the second set, the Mules battled with Dexter, but the Lady ‘Cats still came out on top in one of their closest sets of the season, 25-21. Mackinlee Rogers put up six points to nab top server honors, and Jines had three aces in the contest.
The night also saw a special event for the girls - Dig Pink. The event, partnered with 18 Fore Life, was put on to raise money for breast cancer patients in the area. The ladies were able to raise over $2,100. Check back with the ShowMe Times for the full story on Dig Pink!
The Lady ‘Cats will be in action again on April 5, when they take on Puxico.
