In Memory of Jack Floyd Rodgers

Jack Floyd Rodgers, son of the late Opal Floyd Rodgers and Ellen Turnage Rodgers, was born on May 25, 1933, in Essex, Missouri, and departed this life on March 12, 2025, at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 91 years.


Mr. Rodgers was a Veteran of the United States Army and the former owner of Countywide Abstract & Title in Dexter, Missouri. He was a trustee, treasurer, deacon, Sunday school teacher and member of First General Baptist Church in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter. He was a member of the Dexter Rotary club for 50 years with perfect attendance, a former president of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Missouri Land Title Association, a former member of the Dexter School Board and a former member of the Dexter Library Board.


On September 7, 1956, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Melba Barker. Mrs. Rodgers survives of their home in Dexter.


Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Teresa Overall and husband Jim of Dexter, Missouri; by his son-in-law, Gene Smith and wife Janet of Dexter, Missouri; by his sister, Patricia Rodgers of Dexter, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Heather Ryan (Jason), Emily Wilburn, Allison Traughber (Josh), and Garrett Wray (Elisha); by five step grandchildren, Matt Overall, Josh Overall, Melissa Smith, Billy Smith and Kimberly Lewallen; and by eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.


Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Rodgers Smith; by his son-in-law, Phil Wray; and by his brother, Roy Gerald Rodgers.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Justin Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
