In Memory of Donald

Donald "Eli" Wilson, a longtime resident of Bloomfield, Missouri, was born on December 16, 1947, to the late Jesse and Eva (Martin) Wilson. He  passed away on November 28 2024, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, at the age of 76 years.

Eli dedicated his life to his family and country, serving proudly as an Army veteran during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he found fulfillment in his work as a carpenter until his retirement in 2012.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Angie (Danny) Kinnard of Silva, Missouri, and Dawn Christian of Dexter, Missouri, as well as his son, Justin Wilson of Dexter, Missouri, his four grandchildren: Jacob, Zane, Truman, and Gladys. He is also survived by his brothers, Jesse, David, Chesley, and Phillip, and his sisters, Ruthie and Melba.

Eli was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Francis, James, Jerry Dean, and Carl Wayne.

A visitation to honor Eli's life will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, beginning at 11 A.M. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri. Following the visitation, funeral services will commence at 12 P.M., led by Pastor Charles Robertson of Bloomfield, Missouri.

Eli will be laid to rest at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery near Bloomfield, where he will receive Full Military Honors in recognition of his service.

Watkins and Sons Funeral Service is honored to assist the family during this time.

Bryan Lee Crowley, son of Jerry and Janice “Jan” Crowley of Dexter, Missouri was born on February 14, 1968, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on December 2, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Stoddard in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 56.


Bryan was a lifelong resident of Dexter and enjoyed riding around on his golf carts.


Along with his parents, Jerry and Jan, he is survived by his brother Terry Crowley and wife Tamara of Dexter, Missouri; by his niece, Chandler Crowley; and by his nephew, Logan Crowley.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.


Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.

In Memory of Shirley “Jean” Pickett

Shirley “Jean” Pickett, daughter of the late Claude Pickett and Shirley Teel Pickett, was born November 5, 1958, in Gideon, Missouri, and departed this life on November 28, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Stoddard, in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 66 years.


Ms. Pickett was a homemaker and a resident of Bernie, Missouri.


She is survived by her son, Josh Williams, of Bernie, Missouri; by her brother Randy Pickett and wife Demetra of Bernie, Missouri; by two sisters, Earline Williams and husband Ricky of Parma, Missouri, and Deborah Dunn of Bernie, Missouri.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel in Bernie at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

In Memory of Frank Thomas Cook

Frank Thomas Cook, son of the late Henry Cook and Martha Caroline Sagely Cook, was born in Mitchell, Tennessee on May 12, 1935 and departed this life at Winchester Nursing Center in Bernie on November 24, 2024 at the age of 89.


Mr. Cook had been a farmer during his life and was a resident of Malden.


He was united in marriage to Estell Manes in Blytheville, Arkansas on July 6, 1954. Mrs. Cook preceded her husband in death on June 17, 2020.


He is survived by two sons, Robert Cook & wife Mona of New Madrid and Paul Cook & wife Kim of Malden; by one daughter, Linda Fowler & husband John of Modesto, California; by his daughter-in-law, Georgia Cook of Sikeston; by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death other than by his parents and his wife, by one son, James Cook; by two daughters, Brenda Cook and Sue Cook; by two brothers, Henry Burton Cook and Albert Cook; by one sister Bessie Lawson.


Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 12:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery. Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie is assisting with all arrangements.

In Memory of Lucille Dowdy

Lucille Dowdy, daughter of the late Howard Kincy and Ella Temples Kincy, was born on February 1, 1920, in the Dowdy Community, southwest of Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on November 15, 2024, at her residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 104 years.


Mrs. Dowdy was a former employee of Elder Manufacturing and a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter.


On November 26, 1938, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Minton Sheridan Dowdy. Mr. Dowdy preceded her in death on May 11, 2010.


She is survived by two daughters, Jo Anne England and husband Garry of Dexter, Missouri and Sharon Dowdy of Dexter, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Shannon Dean England and wife Lori and Laura Anne England; and by her great grandchild, Lizzie England.


Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Kincy, Frank Kincy, and Aldon Kincy; and by four sisters, Berniece McCarty, Edna Bouse, Ruby Lambert, and Dorothy Gibson.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. with Gary McFarlen officiating.
