Brenda Gay Gillespie, daughter of the late Theo Poindexter and Natalie Hendrix Poindexter, was born on June 11, 1961, in Sikeston, Missouri, and departed this life on August 26, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Stoddard in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 63 years.
Mrs. Gillespie was an employee of Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, she was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ, and a resident of Dexter.
On May 24, 1986, in Sikeston, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Kyle Gillespie. Mr. Gillespie survives of their home in Dexter.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her son, Tyler Gillespie and wife Danielle of Arnold, Missouri; by her brother, Roger Poindexter of Nashville, Tennessee; by her sister, Anita Poindexter of Sikeston, Missouri; and by two grandchildren, Zayne Gillespie and Brayden Gillespie.

Ja'Kylan Young was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on August 25, 2024, and went to the big nap in the sky just a little while later, on the very same day. He was only here a tiny bubble of time - just 2 hours and 58 minutes! He leaves behind some really special people. His daddy, Lorenzo Young, was there to cuddle him close. His mommy, Shameisha Robinson, gave him all the love she could in that short time.
Ja'Kylan has grandparents too! Travis Robinson and Erica Trotter, who are his mom's parents, and Tiswanna Tucker, his dad's mom, all got to smile down at him. He was like a cute little star in a family full of shining lights.
Even though Ja'Kylan’s time here was so super short, his family will treasure every minute they got to be with him. They will keep him in their hearts forever, watching over them like a gentle sparkle in the sky. Bye-bye, sweet Ja'Kylan! You’ll be missed by all those who loved you oh-so-much.
Charles Edward Hill, born on September 10, 1959, in Parma, Missouri, to William K. Hill and Harriet (McKeller) Hill, left his earthly life on August 23, 2024, in Essex, Missouri. His journey through life was marked by heartfelt connections, hard work, and a passion for the simple joys that brought him happiness.
Charles dedicated much of his professional life to a meaningful career at Tyson Foods, where he worked in the sanitation department. His commitment and diligence were admired by many, and he took pride in ensuring a clean and safe environment for his colleagues and community.
An individual's essence can often be reflected in their hobbies, and Charles was a man who found immense joy in the great outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, and immerse himself in drawing and construction work. These activities not only filled his leisure hours but also brought together friends and family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
He leaves behind two sons, Travis Rand of Springfield, MO, and Mario Robinson of Biloxi, MI, along with two daughters, Latisha Rand of Lilbourn, MO, and Charletta Robinson of Pascagoula, MS. The warmth and laughter of several grandchildren will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. Charles is also survived by three brothers, Ben Hill of Chicago, IL, Ernest Hill of Marion, IN, and Chester Hill of Essex, MO; and three sisters, Willie Lee Bailey of Malden, MO, Mabel Jacobs of Bernie, MO, and Annie Thompson of Essex, MO. A special cousin and best friend, Glen Cole of Essex, MO, stood by him throughout their lives, sharing laughter and life’s moments.
Though Charles has departed from this earthly realm, his spirited presence will be deeply missed. He reunited with his beloved parents and departed siblings: five brothers, Kenneth, Marvin, John Lee, Donnie, and Calvin; as well as three sisters, Betty Gay, Mildred Hill, and Mary Burks.
As family and friends come together to honor Charles’s memory, let us remember his indomitable spirit, love for his family, and the joy he found in life’s adventures. Visitation will be held on August 31, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at noon at Watkins Funeral Homes in Dexter, Missouri. His journey will culminate in interment at Macedonia Cemetery in Malden, MO, at 1:00 PM.

Brenda Gail Caplinger, daughter of the late Wayne Rodery and Helen Blevins Rodery, was born on December 8, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life on August 23, 2024, at Winchester Nursing Center in Bernie, Missouri, at the age of 70 years.
Mrs. Caplinger was a former office manager and a former certified nursing assistant at Winchester Place in Bernie. She enjoyed cooking, watching old movies, and shopping at thrift stores and antique stores. She loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren, and she loved animals, rescuing a lot of them throughout her life.
She is survived her son, Kevin Whittenberg and wife Summer of Risco, Missouri; by her daughter, Sara Nash and husband Travis of Malden, Missouri; by three brothers, Tim Rodery of Bernie, Missouri, Darrell Rodery and wife Joann, of Bernie, Missouri, and Kenneth Rodery and wife Becky of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by her sister, Karen Rodery Hunter of Louisville, Kentucky; and by five grandchildren, Brandon Whittenberg, Blake Nash, Carson Nash, Kinley Nash, and Ethan Nash.
Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Erin Whittenberg, Darcy Whittenberg, and Samuel Whittenberg.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dale Hartle officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

Wyman “Rudy” Stewart, son of the late William Frank Stewart and Alma Bollinger Stewart was born on August 7, 1933, at Bloomfield, Missouri and departed this life on August 23, 2024 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 91.
Rudy was a veteran of the United States Army and was a resident of Dexter. He was a long-time member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter and was insurance salesman for Prudential Life Insurance Company. He enjoyed tinkering with and collecting lawn mowers and small tractors. He enjoyed auctions, driving around and visiting with people, and meeting up with his friends at McDonalds in the morning for coffee.
On February 23, 1954, he was united in marriage to Phyllis J. Carney in Sardis, Mississippi. Mrs. Stewart preceded him in death on January 8, 2015.
He is survived by his son Brent Stewart and wife Kiesha of Dexter, Missouri; by his daughter, Denya Stewart Thurston of O’Fallon, Missouri; by his grandchildren, Miya Switser and husband Daniel, Kailey McCutchen and husband Jeff, Kara Smith and husband David, and Alexis Thurston Dieter and husband Max; and by nine great-grandchildren, Charlotte Switser, Ben Switser, Reagan McCutchen, Connor McCutchen, Colin McCutchen, Hayden Smith, McKenzie Smith, Wilson Smith, and Olivia Dieter.
Other than by his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his son, Wyman Lee Stewart; by his brothers, Clellen Stewart and Cloid Stewart; and by his sister, Ruby Miller.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will then be conducted on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Justin Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
