Lawrence Wayne Tillmon, age 80, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Lawrence, “Larry” to his friends, lived a life well lived. He was born on August 20, 1941, in Bernie, Missouri.
Some of his accomplishments during his life include being a United States Marine, a farmer for over 20 years, a gun smith, and at the age of 48 he made the decision to fulfill a lifelong dream to become a college graduate receiving a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology and a master’s in business administration. Larry was a loving, caring, and wise husband, father, and Papaw. He will be deeply missed.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William Walter Tillmon and Edith Marie Tillmon, and his two sisters, Doris “Janie” Eaves and Lois Griffin.
Larry is survived by his wife, Shirley Tillmon, and seven children: Michelle Jo Blaylock (John) of Hartselle, Alabama; Lee Tillmon of Jacksonville, Florida; Sherry Louise Lang (Mark) of Dexter, Missouri; Tina Marie Smith (Cean) of Stafford, Missouri; Robert Welsey Tillmon (Shirley) of Sturgis, Michigan; Joshua Lawrence Tillmon (Renee) of Burr Oak, Michigan, and Michael Walter Tillmon (Frednica) Washington, D.C. Larry also counts as his blessings fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Essex, Cemetery.
