In Memory of Thomas Anthony Hyslop

Thomas Anthony Hyslop, son of Dennis Hyslop and Melba Booker Pate, was born on May 11, 1971, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on March 26, 2022, at Southeast Health of Stoddard County in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 50 years.

Mr. Hyslop was a truck driver for PTI and Eubanks Trucking and a resident of Bloomfield, Missouri. He enjoyed woodworking, rebuilding old cars, heavy metal music, and playing the guitar. He loved spending time playing with this pit bull, Sissy.

He is survived by his father, Dennis Hyslop and wife Susan of Bloomfield; by his mother, Melba Pate of Bloomfield; by his son, Dustin Walker and wife Krystal of Bloomfield; and by his step-sister, Kasie Delay of Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Christy Sunshine Hyslop.

No services are planned.

In Memory of Mary Lee Craft

Mary Lee Craft, daughter of the late Frank Akins was born in Southeast Missouri on March 9, 1925 and departed this life at Aspire Health and Rehab in Malden, Missouri on March 27, 2022 at the age of 97.

Mrs. Craft was a homemaker, she had attended River of Life in Rural Dexter, Nazarene in Bernie and also the Corner Gospel Church in Bernie.

She was united in marriage to Guy Festus Craft in Malden, Missouri on July 29, 1942. Mr. Craft preceded his wife in death on May 4, 2001.

Survivors include her son-in-law, Sam Parish of Bernie, Missouri; by two granddaughters, Dana Michelle Gough and LaDonna Lee Duncan; by four great-grandchildren, Bradley Seth Norman, Zachary Drew Norman, Brandon Michael Gough and Lindsey Nicole Fuwell; also by other relatives and friends.

Other than by her father and her husband, She was preceded in death by two daughters, Jeanette Sandra Parish and Judy Carrol Craft.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in the Bernie Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. Interment following.

Tony Wade Zimmerman, son of Howard Wayne Zimmerman and Shirley Thurston Zimmerman, was born on November 14, 1958, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on March 26, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, at the age of 63 years.

Mr. Zimmerman worked for Keasler Farms and was a resident of Bernie, Missouri. He enjoyed riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his parents, Howard and Shirley Zimmerman of Bernie; by his son, Tony Zimmerman and wife Natalie of Bernie; by his daughter, Brittney Carlson and husband Adam of Poplar Bluff; by two sisters, Tracy Zimmerman and Tonya Pierce both of Bernie; and by two grandchildren, Drake Dalton Zimmerman and Cooper Wayne Zimmerman; and by his close friend, Tomza Vanhorn.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Ray Rowland officiating.

In Memory of Maxine G. Harper

Maxine G. Harper, daughter of the late Ethel Smithson Guilliams and Marvin Guilliams, was born on January 3, 1933, in Gatewood, Missouri, and departed this life on March 25, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, at the age of 89 years.

Mrs. Harper was a former employee of the Missouri Department of Family Services and the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office. She was a member of the Bloomfield Church of Christ and the AMVETS Auxiliary, and she was a resident of Bloomfield, Missouri. Mackie enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Mackie and Don spent several years going to Current River to the cabin they built and loved.

On September 30, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Don Harper. Mr. Harper preceded her in death on November 6, 2015.

She is survived by her son, “Rip” Harper and wife Karen of Dexter, Missouri; by her daughter, Melissa Bowie of Dudley, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Ben Harper Bowie and wife Jennifer, Amy Marie Briggs and husband Adam, Theron A. Harper, and Beth Fowler and husband Billy; and by three great-grandchildren, RJ Bowie, Theo Briggs, and Gracyn Fowler.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Richard Bowie; by six brothers, Edward Guilliams, Barney Guilliams, Jerry Guilliams, Walter Guilliams, Lonnie Guilliams, and Donnie Guilliams; and by her sister, Marvine Joplin.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, March 27, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Stoddard County Children’s Home, PO Box 164, Dexter, Missouri 63841 or the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, 17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, Missouri 63825.

In Memory of Peggy Laverne Kirkbride

Peggy Laverne Kirkbride, daughter of the late Raymond Gordon Walker and Frankie Janette Barker Almond, was born on May 25, 1943, in Bloomfield, Missouri, and departed this life on March 21, 2022, at Magnolia Manor in Piggott, Arkansas, at the age of 78 years.

Mrs. Kirkbride was a former certified nurse assistant. She was a member of the Assembly of God in Dexter, Missouri, and a resident of Dexter. Peggy loved to cross stitch, and work crossword puzzles. She loved to make people laugh and visit and fellowship with everyone. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch and watching her hummingbirds. And she loved her grandkids.

On December 3, 1993, in Branson, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Dale Kirkbride. Mr. Kirkbride preceded her in death on February 15, 2022,

She is survived by two sons, Larry Manuel (Kami) of Dexter, Missouri, and Mark Kirkbride (Trish) of Olathe, Kansas; by two daughters, Paula Richardson (Charles) of Piggott, Arkansas, and Laura Kirkbride (Mary) of Cottleville, Missouri; by her sister, Renda Burton of Dexter, Missouri; by seven grandchildren, Enoch Richardson, Jacob Richardson, Ben Manuel, Ashley Manuel, Matthew Manuel, Seth Williams, and Ethan Kirkbride; and by six great-grandchildren, Addison Richardson, Jubilee Richardson, Abilene Richardson, Hudson Matthew Underwood, Espen Travis Wayne Manuel, and one due in August.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Walker, Jim Walker, and Gary Kastner; and by two sisters in infancy.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Richardson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery in rural Bloomfield, Missouri.
