In Memory of Carroll Montgomery

Carroll Montgomery, son of the late Hollas and Kathryn “Katy” Kimbrell Montgomery was born on June 16, 1944 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on May 11, 2021 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 76.

Mr. Montgomery was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a farmer and the owner of Zone Products.

On December 23, 1967 he was united in marriage to Etheleen Mann in Dexter, Missouri. Mrs. Montgomery survives of their residence in Dexter.

Other than by his wife, Etheleen, he is survived by one son and daughter in law, Keith and wife LaDonna Montgomery of Bloomfield, Missouri; by one daughter and son in law, Kara and husband Greg Lummukka of Dexter; by three sisters, Sharon Helfrich and husband Eugene of Columbia, Illinois, Joyce Thompson of Summerfield, Florida and Sherry Montgomery of Dexter, Missouri; by eight grandchildren, Ezekiel Montgomery, Jacob Montgomery, James Montgomery, Daniel Montgomery, Noah Montgomery, Revekah Montgomery, Ian Lummukka and Dax Lummukka.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Shelly Montgomery; by one brother, Terry Scott Montgomery and by one granddaughter, Anna Montgomery.

Visitation will be conducted on Friday, May 14, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. DeArvin McClellan officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the 18 Fore Life, c/o Scott Kruse, 705 Laurie Circle, Dexter, Missouri 63841 or to Elara Care Hospice, 1614 W Business Hwy 60 Ste A-2, Dexter, Missouri 63841.

In Memory of Naomi Ruth Chapman Adams

Naomi Ruth Chapman Adams, age 90, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at her residence. Naomi was born in Dudley, Missouri on Friday, October 10, 1930 to Reverend D.D. Chapman and Lela Chapman.

Naomi was raised in the Pentecostal faith and served the Lord many years. She was a member of the Pentecostals of Columbia, Tennessee for the past six years. Previously, she was a member of the Apostolic Church in Puxico, Missouri for thirty-seven years.

She was married to Charles J. Adams for sixty years, they were married on March 6, 1948; together they had four children. He passed away on April 15, 2008.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, spending time with her family, and going to church.

Survivors include her children: Charles (Mary) Adams of Summertown, Tennessee, Edith (Leonard) Crum of Orion, Michigan, and William (Lori) Adams of Columbia, Tennessee; sisters: Mabel (Ray) Henson and Mary Lack both of Missouri; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Barbie Helton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Revered D.D. Chapman and Lela Chapman; daughter, Ruth Anita Adams; and grandson, Kevin Adams.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to her daughter-in-law, Lori Adams for taking such great care of her for the past three years and to Caris Hospice for their compassion during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held at the Apostolic Church in Puxico, Missouri on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Puxico Cemetery.

In Memory of Luther Felix Davis

Luther Felix Davis, son of the late George Washington Davis and Erma Bell Woods Davis, was born in Essex, Missouri on April 16, 1930, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing and Rehab., Puxico, Missouri on May 8, 2021, at the age of  91.

Luther was veteran of the US Army having served during the WWll War and Korea War after coming home from service he went to work as a maintenance man at a Lead Smelter company. He lived in Essex, Bonne Terre, and Festus, Missouri areas.

Luther Married Emma Jean Buff on May 7, 1971 and she precedes him in death. He enjoyed hunting when he could and do what he called honey dew jobs around the house, and a member of the Herculaneum Masonic Lodge 338. 

Surviving are his stepson Dennis Vest of Belleville Illinois, two step daughters Donna Vest of Festus, Missouri and Darla Vest of Arnold Missouri; four brothers Jeff Davis of Glen Allen, Missouri, Donald Davis of Puxico, Missouri, Charles Davis of Dexter, Missouri, Etsel Davis of Greenfield, Indiana; one sister Thelma Irene of Greenfield, Indiana. A host of relatives and friends also survive. Luther was preceded in death by George Washington Davis and Erma Bell Davis, wife Emma, sisters Wanda Brunner, Gloretta McGee, Christine Davis, four brothers Joe, Walter, Marion and Eugene Davis.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 12, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Greg Booher of Festus, Missouri officiating. 

Interment will follow in Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

David Ray Oliver of Cape Girardeau, Missouri was born to Phyllis Dale Crain Oliver and the late Lloyd "Ray" Oliver on March 23, 1966 in Dexter, Missouri and passed away on May 7, 2021 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

David had been a resident of Puxico and Cape Girardeau, Missouri he enjoyed music. 

Survivors include is mother Phyllis Oliver of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one sister Lisa Mayberry of Fruitland, Missouri. And host of family and friends also survive.

David  was preceded in death by his father Lloyd "Ray" Oliver. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 11, 2021, from 11a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday May 11, 2021 at  1:00 p.m.  with Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico, Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of George Strombach

George Strombach of Puxico, Missouri was born to the late George Strombach and Josephine Sarro Palmer on June 27, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on May 4, 2021 in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

George was a resident of Puxico, Missouri for the past six years. He enjoyed playing golf, reading, history, and telling stories. He worked for Baldwin Buick GMC  in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

George married Deborah Ann Abernathy on November 2, 2002 she survives of the home.

Surviving are his wife Deborah of Puxico; one son Benjamin (Sally) Hancock of Puxico; three daughters Tammy Gnutek of Rockford, Illinois; Debbie Strombach of Elgin Illinois Michelle (Dan ) Farrell of Palatine, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Rene Rodriguez, Christopher Vergara, Allison Hermann, Avery and Addison Hancock, Jake and Jordan Farrell; and seven great grand children. A host of family and  friends also survive. George was preceded in death by his father George Strombach,  mother and stepfather Josephine and Chuck Palmer .

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday May 10, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.  with Bro. Buck Cruse of Bloomfield, and Steve Bode of Puxico Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
