In Memory of William “Darryl” New

William “Darryl” New passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the age of 71.

He leaves behind his wife Sharon New of Bernie, Missouri; two children, Holly Shipp, and Derik New of Malden, Missouri; six wonderful grand-children; and sisters, Kathy Clappsaddle of Yellville, Arkansas, Brenda Busboom of Buckeye, Arizona and Jennifer Stratman of Sikeston, Missouri.

Born in 1947, to Ralph and Regina New of Malden he was the third born sibling in the family. Darryl attended Malden public school in his youth and graduated with the class of 1967.  He volunteered for service in the United States Air Force at 19 and after serving in Korea and Vietnam for a few years found he had a knack as an aircraft mechanic and generally fixing broken stuff. He returned 1970 and came home to marry his wife Sharon, the love of his life for 49 years.

After many odd jobs, Darryl and his dad Ralph started “News Motorcycle Shop” where Darryl repaired motorcycles or any wheeled vehicle, and was an all-around handyman. In 1977 he joined the Missouri national guard in Bernie Missouri and served there until 1989. With the help of some friends he opened New’s Auto Salvage in 1989 and remained in business until 2018.

Following his wishes, there will be a small graveside service on Friday, August 30, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.  He will be greatly missed by his family, and friends.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
