In Memory of Sharon Jean Stevens
Sharon Jean Stevens, daughter of the late Cecil Dayton Whitehead and Lura Imogene Boyd Whitehead was born in Pontiac, Michigan on March 23, 1948 and departed this life at Sikeston, Missouri on June 4, 2018 at the age of 70 years.

She had worked at Brown Shoe Company in Bernie.  Was a homemaker and loved her family.  She was a member of Lighthouse Church of Dexter, Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Glenn Stevens in Bernie, Missouri on May 28, 1966.  Mr. Stevens survives in their home in Bernie. 

Survivors include one brother, Bobby Whitehead and wife Susan of Bernie, Missouri; by one sister, Derretta Patrick and husband Eddie of Bernie, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Kristin Stevens and Ashlyn Stevens both of Bernie, Missouri; by one great-grandson, Anthony Stevens of Bernie; also by other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death other than by her parents, by one son, Jeffrey Glenn Stevens on January 15, 2008.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 10:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.   

Funeral services will then be conducted at 1:00 P.M. On Thursday, June 7, 2018 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery. 

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

In Memory of Laura Jane Pirtle
Laura Jane Pirtle, daughter of the late William L. Lee and Mary Bolerjack Lee was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on January 2, 1945 and departed this life at Southeast Health of Stoddard County, Dexter, Missouri on June 2, 2018 at the age of 73.
 
Mrs. Pirtle was a Homemaker, attended First General Church of Bloomfield, Missouri and was a resident of Dexter, Missouri. She loved spending time with her family, playing games, fishing and Sunday dinners with her brothers.  She also had a passion for crafting and gardening.
 
In 1965, she was united in marriage to Dick McKuin and with this marriage they had three daughters.  She was then united in marriage to Tom Pirtle in Carroll Co., Eureka Springs, Arkansas on March 19, 1993.  Mr. Pirtle preceded his wife in death on November 29, 2001.
 
Survivors include two daughters, Lindy Parker & husband Kevin of Dexter, Missouri and Sandy Siems & husband Clay of Stuttgart, Arkansas; by three brothers, Robert Lee, Don Lee and Author Lee all of Bernie, Missouri; by four granddaughters, Erin Siems, Hallie Siems, Taylor Miller & husband Caleb and Caitlin Roe & husband Nick; she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a great-grandson, Tucker Rhett Miller and a great-granddaughter Parker Jade Roe; also by other relatives and friends.
 
She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband, by one daughter, Cindy McKuin; by one brother, Bill Lee.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.   

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Blake Brown officiating.   

Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

In Memory of Patsy Sherman
Patsy Proffer Sherman, 85, of Dexter, formerly of Advance, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 27, 1933, in Sturdivant, Missouri, the daughter of Elvin and Jessie Walker Proffer.

Patsy was a 1951 graduate of Advance High School. She had been a homemaker. She was a member of Advance First Baptist Church. Patsy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and flowers.

Patsy and Harold “Charles” Sherman were united in marriage Sept. 8, 1951, in Dexter, and he preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1996.

Survivors include a son, Keith (Rhonda) Sherman of Dexter; a daughter, Pamela (Mike) Turpin of Holstein, Iowa; two brothers, Robert Proffer of Godfrey, Illinois, and Jackie Proffer of Garlin, Texas; three grandchildren, Kim McCoy, Derek Sherman and Daniel Turpin; and three great-grandchildren, Logan, Preston and Maddux McCoy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at the chapel, with Rev. Brad Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Stoddard County Children’s Home.

In Memory of Virginia Lee Summers
Virginia Lee Summers, daughter of the late Phillip Dees and Josie Myers Dees was born on November 3, 1943 in Chaffee, Missouri and departed this life on June 2, 2018 at the Sikeston Convalescent Center at the age of 74.

Mrs. Summers was a home-maker, member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Bill Summers on October 27, 1961 in Dexter.  Mr. Summers preceded her in death on January 23, 2014.  

She is survived by one son, Greg Summers of Dexter; by one daughter, Gina and husband Jerry Elder of Republic, Missouri; by three grandchildren, Nena and husband Eric Shanafelt, Logan Elder and Chase Elder.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Dees and by two sisters, Ruth Ann Scott and Eunice Busby.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. (NOON). 

A short memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Noon in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.

In Memory of Crystal Dawn Riddle

Crystal Dawn Ward Riddle, 29 of rural Bernie, Mo passed into eternity in the arms of Jesus on May 29, 2018, after a short struggle with cancer.

Crystal was born on July 27, 1988 in Rhylander, Wisconsin to Joseph Paul Ward and Carolyn Faye Hayes.  She is survived by her parents and her step-father, Donald R. Hayes.

On May 14, 2009, Crystal was united in marriage to Jordan Lee Riddle in Corning, Arkansas.  The highlight of Crystal’s life was when their daughter, Faith Elizabeth Riddle, was born on December 10, 2010, who is now 7 years of age.

Crystal is survived by her husband, Jordan; her daughter Faith; her step-son Noah L. Riddle of Dexter; her mother, father, and step-father; two brothers, Bobbie Ward and Gary Ward; two half-sisters, Samantha Ward and Sara Ward; four step-sisters, Sandra Bryant, Angie Sweeza, Amy Gonzalez and Deana Embrey; by her maternal grandmother, Joyce Faye Trout; by her maternal step-grandmother, Josephine Trout of Malden; by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jeff and Charlotte Riddle of Dexter; by her special niece, Rae-Ann. Many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends mourn her passing and will miss her dearly.

Crystal was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Dean Trout; paternal grandfather, Bobbie Ward and paternal grandmother, Kathy Ward.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Lighthouse Christian Church.  Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
