Elva Juanita King of Puxico, Mo, daughter of the late Virgil Henry and Ora Louise Patterson Cookson, was born on April 25, 1930 in the Rockwell area near Puxico and passed away at the St Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on January 18, 2018, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 24 days.

Mrs. King had lived most of her life in Puxico. She was a former member of the Brown General Baptist Church near Puxico and was of the General Baptist Faith. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, the Puhicah Club and a former member of Puxico Country  Squares.

She loved quilting, country western music, square dancing, traveling, visiting her children, crocheting, cooking, flowers, gardening, making jewelry, playing cards, looking at pictures, watching Wheel of Fortune, eating ice cream, going to Walmart, going to flea markets and talking to her children every night. She was famous for her German Chocolate Cake, her Strawberry Shortbread, and her amazing Sweet Potatoes. She was an angel and a guiding light to her family. She nourished everyone around her with faith, love, and kindness. She loved nothing better than to have her family home and surrounding her, visiting with each other, sharing stories, and cooking together. She loved her family more than anything, they were her world. She will be remembered as a bright and shining light to all who knew her.

On September 3, 1948, she was married to Wilfred Wm. "Bill" King in Piggott, Arkansas and was married 56 years. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2005.

She is survived by three sons & wives: Jim King & special friend, Linda Fox of Poplar Bluff, Steve & Robyn King of Clarksville, Ohio, Randy & Linda King of Puxico; one daughter & husband, Judy & Rick Corwin of Eldon, Missouri; grandchildren & spouses, Amber (Shannon), Chad (Jessi), Todd (Staci), Jamie (Joy), Teresha (Eric) Jerri, Kylee (Kyle), Mekenzie (Ryan), Kirsten (Jeremy), Cory (Karen), Bethany (Kyle), Cacie (Tyler), Brock (Monique), Chantel (Jacob): great grandchildren, Kellin, Karina, Kayson, Karson, Sabrina, Ainsley, Sloane, Tucker, Rile, Taylor, Gage, Addisyn, Kyndel, Makayla, Braylee, Kember, Oscar, Isabel, Kate, Rustin, Cale, Adele, Camilla, Ada, Camden, Kingston; three brothers and wife, Junior Cookson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jerry Cookson, Larry & Judy Cookson all of Puxico; one sister and husband, Syble & Bob Buttry of Wappapello; two brothers-in-law, Don Bates of Wappapello and Neal Holloway of Puxico. Nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her siblings Melba (Cookson) Walker, JA Cookson, Jean (Cookson) Holloway, Ada (Cookson) Bates.

Friends may call after 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be held on Monday January 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Art Norris of Puxico officiating.

Interment will be in the Brown Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

Reva Lee Lintz, daughter of the late Homer Williams and Rossie Vern Cannady Williams was born on March 8, 1932 in Bernie, Missouri and departed this life at her residence in Bloomfield, Missouri on January 17, 2018 at the age of 85 years.

Mrs. Lintz was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield and was a home-maker.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Lee Lintz on August 31, 1956 in Dexter, Missouri.  Mr. Lintz preceded her in death in 2001.

Survivors include; one son, Greg Lintz and Donita of Dexter; one daughter, Connie Lee Lintz and Beverly of Bernie; and by one granddaughter, Shelby Christine Lintz.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Williams and Beautte Williams; and by three sisters, Mary Ellen Barnes, Erma Catrett and Beryl Blunt.

Friends may call at the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P. M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 P. M. at the First General Baptist Church with Rev. Blake Brown officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.

Marcia Ann Trigg, age 73, passed away on January 17, 2018, at her home in Sikeston, MO.

Born September 3, 1944, in Sikeston, MO., to the late John and Maxine Ozment Gipson. 

On November 22, 1963 in Sikeston, MO., she married Homer Trigg, who survives of the home. 

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Wendy Trigg of Altus, OK.; one daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Darrin Propst of Dexter, MO.; one brother, John Gipson of Baldwin, MO.; five grandchildren, Brooks, Travis and Kyla Propst of Dexter, MO., Adam and Andrew Trigg of Altus, OK.

Visitation will be Monday January 22, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO., with Rev. David Ross, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston, MO., officiating.

Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, MO.

Trisha Lynn Slagley, 23, of Bell City, passed away January 17, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.  She was born July 1, 1994 at Cape Girardeau, MO, the daughter of Jeffrey Slagley and Edith Shipley Slagley.

Trisha was a 2012 graduate of Bell City High School.  She loved to play volleyball. She was on the 2008 Bell City High School Volleyball Final Four Team.  She worked as a waitress and bartender at Ruby Tuesday’s at Cape Girardeau.  She loved to cook.  She enjoyed watching Reyonld’s Racing Team and was part of the pit crew.  She enjoyed spending time with her nephews and nieces.  She was spunky, sassy and always smiling.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Michael Lee officiating. 

Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery in Perkins, MO.

Fred Lee Pierce, 84 of Puxico, Missouri died January 14, 2018 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. 

He was born December 7, 1933 Bakersfield, California To Justin and Ruth Pierce, they both preceded him in death. 

He was married to Helen Hobgood, she proceeded him to death on April 8, 2012.

He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Kinder General Baptist church. 

He was a woods craftsman and his works are known throughout the community. One of his passions was veteran interment flag cases and he made a beautiful register stand for the Morgan Sifford funeral where he was a faithful friend of the family and staff. 

Mr. Pierce is survived by two sons Don and David; five grandchildren; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will begin at 12 o’clock noon, Saturday January 20, 2016 at the Morgan Sifford Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral to follow at 2:00 PM with Reverends Ray Placher and Gary Burns officiating.
