In Memory of Lucille Pratt

Lucille Pratt of Dexter, daughter of the late Crit and Mary Payton, was born on July 7, 1936, in Aid, Missouri and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on December 19, 2017, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 12 days.
She had lived in Amhurst, Ohio, Cabondale, Illinois, and California, but most of her life was spent in the Dexter area. She was of the Baptist faith.
She married Claude Pratt, in Piggott, Arkansas, he preceded her in death on September 8, 1966.
Surviving are one son and wife, Paul & Karen Pratt of Dexter, Missouri; one daughter and husband, Marilyn & Mike Mattison of Dexter, Missouri; two grandchildren; Hope McDaniel of Perryville, Missouri, Angela Freeman of Dexter, Missouri; four great grandchildren; Abbey Pratt, Hailey Pratt, Kayla Freeman, and Kaleb Freeman, all of Dexter; one brother, Bobby Payton Dexter. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda; three sisters, Louise Marlowe, Thelma Sherman and Virginia Griffith; three brothers, Kenneth, Orval and J. C. Payton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Gary Cooper of Swinton officiating.
Interment will be in the Harper Cemetery in Aid, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements

In Memory of Mertie Cates

Mertie G. Cates of Dexter, daughter of the late Leland Moses and Gracie Deck Linville, was born on June 2, 1920, in Bloomfield, Missouri and passed away at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter on December 18, 2017, at the age of 97 years, 6 months and 16 days.
She had lived in the Bloomfield and Dexter area all of her life. She was a member of the New Bethel General Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting, gardening, puzzles and listening to the Bible on tapes.
On June 6, 1942, she married Rev. Elmer James Cates. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1991.
Surviving are one son & wife, Keith & Linda Cates of Dexter, Missouri; one granddaughter & husband, Charity Cates & Shawn Warmack of St. Peters, Missouri; great granddaughter, Naomi Warmack of St. Peters, Missouri; one brother, Jess Linville of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Novella Newcomer of Bloomfield, Missouri, special friend, Keith Myers of Springfield, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Cates, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017, after 10:00 a.m. until time for services at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Steve Tippen of Bloomfield officiating and Rev. Gerald Hart of Bertrand assisting.
Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Colleen Phillips

Colleen Phillips, daughter of the late Sylvester Page and Ethel Johns Page was born on August 6, 1917 in Mount Vernon, Illinois and departed this life on December 19, 2017 at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter, Mo at the age of 100 years.
Colleen was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She had served on the Stoddard County Election Board for many years. She was the Past-President of the Stoddard County Historical Society and was a member of the Stoddard County Democratic Women’s Club where she was honored as their Women Of The Year.
She was united in marriage to Floyd E. Phillips on September 25, 1932 in Bloomfield, Mo. Mr. Phillips preceded her in death on July 1, 1984.
Survivors include: two daughters, Rosemary Sanders (Carl) of Poplar Bluff, Mo and Veta Musgrave (Denton) of Dexter, Mo; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and twenty-seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, Gene Page and Virgil Page; two sisters, Leona Hewett and Evelyn DePriest.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM.
Services will be conducted on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.
Interment will follow at the Bloomfield Cemetery.

In Memory of Gary Worley

Gary Worley, 55, of Puxico, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital.
He was born on August 16, 1962 to Gene Worley and Gigi Alexander in Springfield, Missouri. Gary worked at Worley Implement with his family for most of his life.
Gary was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending the days on current river with his wife and son. Gary frequented Duck Creek and Mingo as part of his daily routine.
Gary is survived by his loving spouse of 13 years Terri; One son, Josh Worley of Saint Louis, MO; Mother, Gigi Alexander; and One sister, Gina Gross both of Newman, GA.
Gary also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Gene Worley.
The family is having a Memorial Service Saturday December 23, 2017 at 11am at the Duck Creek Baptist Church in Puxico, MO.

In Memory of Floyd Wilmer Clifton

Floyd Wilmer Clifton, son of the late Howard Clifton and Irene Winters Clifton, was born on December 16, 1941, in Menfro, Missouri and passed away at his residence near Essex on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the age of 75.
Mr. Clifton was a former owner/operator truck driver and was formerly employed at Brown Farms near Essex. He had served his country in the United States Marine Corp, the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard. During the Vietnam War, he was captured and served seventeen months as a Prisoner of War.
He was a former Little League Baseball coach, a very appreciative man who wrote many thank you notes to those who had helped him. The term “Simple Man” would serve him well, as he loved to tinker, laugh and be with his grandchildren.
On April 20, 1963, he was united in marriage to Sandra Jean Oxford at Camp Pendleton, California and to this union four children were born. Mrs. Clifton passed away eight hours after his death.
Survivors include, two sons and their wives, Charles and Janet Clifton of Grassy and Daniel and Sherry Clifton of Dexter: by one daughter and her husband, Sharon and Thomas Shaffer of Chaffee: by four grandchildren, Kaylena Tucker, Howard Clifton, Shyann Clifton and Sarah Haney: by one great-grandchild, Noah Lubbers: by four brothers, Ronald Clifton of Cape Girardeau, Alan Clifton of Fort Benning, Georgia, Harold Clifton and Roger Clifton both of Perryville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Howard Clifton.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 21, 2017.
Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.
Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
