In Memory of William Eugene Carver

William Eugene Carver of McGee, son of the late William Franklin and Lillian Versie Walker Carver, was born March 11, 1931, in , Missouri and passed away at the V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on June 20, 2017, at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 9 days.

He had lived in the Puxico and McGee areas all of his life. He had owned and operated Carver Pallet Mill and Carver Log Homes. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during the Korean Confict, attended the Berrong Baptist Church near Gipsy and enjoyed mechanic work, restoring old tractors and liked to play Dominos.

On May 26, 1951, he married Nadine A. Hefner. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2003. On August 14, 2004, he married Dorothy Lemons in Zalma, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Carver of McGee; two daughters & husbands, Patsy & Richard Smith of McGee, Barbara & Butch Grasham of Trusdale, Missouri; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; four sisters, Maxine Duniphan and Lucille Colbert both of Granite City, Illinois, Ada (Steve) Cobourn of Springfield, Illinois, and Eula Beck of St. Louis. Other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gary R. Carver, one sister, Ruth Payne and two brothers, Earl & Jerry Carver.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be on Friday, June 23, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel with Rev. Lee Roy Hefner of McGee officiating.

Interment will follow at the New Hope Cemetery near McGee, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Alan D. Hueckel

Alan D. Hueckel, son of Margie Hueckel of Essex and the late Larry Hueckel was born on January 6, 1968 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on June 18, 2017 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 49.

Mr. Hueckel was the owner of Pro Lube, Pro Tire and Pro Wash in Dexter.  He was a resident of Dexter.

Besides his mother he is survived by one son, Zachary Hueckel; by one nephew, Ben Hueckel; by one niece Taylor and her husband Corbin Matthews; by one great nephew, Jace Hueckel and by close family friends, Linda and Scott Morgan and Keaton.

Besides his father he was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Hueckel.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. 

A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. James Malloy officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be made to the UCAN, 1419 Maud Street Popular Bluff, Missouri 63901, OR the American Heart Association, ATTN: Memorial Processing Center, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, Illinois 60674 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Austin Tyler Varvell of Puxico, son of Robbie and Tammy Santos Varvell, was born April 4, 1999 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and passed away at Big Baptist Health Center in Little Rock on, June 14, 2017, at the age of 18 years, 2 months and 9 days.

Austin had lived in Puxico all his life and was a member the Puxico General Baptist Church. Austin was in SCCLA & Rayni Day Miracle Club of Poplar Bluff, enjoyed watching movies, playing music and traveling.

Surviving are his parents, Robbie & Tammy Varvell of Puxico; one brother, Keith Varvell of Puxico; maternal grandparents Paul & Erlinda Berry of Hearne Texas; paternal grandfather, Ronnie Varvell of Puxico, paternal grandmother & husband, Glenda Smith & Lee of Floresville, Texas; Aunt Amy Baney, and cousins, Jessica & Abigail Baney all of Puxico. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, also survive.

Friends may call on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the First General Baptist Church in Puxico.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the First General Baptist Church in Puxico, Bro. Steve Jones of Puxico officiating.

In Memory of Ruby Hayes

Ruby Hayes, daughter of the late Rado Godfrey and Darcas Ragland Godfrey was born on December 6, 1913 in Clinton, Arkansas and departed this life at Bloomfield Living Center on June 13, 2017 at the age of 103.

Mrs. Hayes was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, a former Nurse’s Aide at Dexter Memorial Hospital and a resident of Bloomfield.

On September 17, 1935, she was united in marriage to Tole Hayes in Benger, Oklahoma.   Mr. Hayes preceded her in death on May 19, 1972.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Alsup and Mary Haddock both of Bloomfield, Missouri, and six sons, Robert Hayes of Lolo, Montana, Lee Hayes of Dexter, Missouri, Frank Hayes of Festus, Missouri, Jimmy Hayes, Gary Hayes, and Dean Hayes all of Bloomfield, Missouri. She is also survived by many grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Alliene King.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 2:00 P.M., with Rev. Ronnie Stevens officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
