In Loving Memory of Chase Chilcutt

Charles “Chase” Brogdon Chilcutt, son of Charles and Mona Brogdon Chilcutt of Dexter was born on January 14, 1987 in Sikeston, Missouri and passed away on July 25, 2016 at his residence in Nashville, TN at the age of 29.

Chase was a graduate of the class of 2005 at Dexter Senior High School.  He worked in management at Walgreen’s in Nashville, Tennessee, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter.

Besides his parents he is survived by three sisters, Charla and husband Eric Lundgren of Bettendorf, Iowa, Christin and husband Matt Stone of Dexter and Courtney and husband Patrick Carmichael of Knoxville, Tennessee; by five nephews, Christopher Stone, Carter Stone and Chance Stone, Brogdon Lundgren and Barrett Lundgren; and by two nieces, Anna Claire Carmichael and Audrey Mae Carmichael and by his paternal grandmother, Joann Chilcutt of Paris, Tennessee.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Dismuke officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be made to the 18 Fore Life c/o Scott Kruse, 705 Laurie Circle, Dexter, Missouri 63841.

In Loving Memory of Maxine Johnson

Maxine Johnson, daughter of the late James Lee Murphy and Catherine Whitby, was born on February 5, 1928 in Bernie, Missouri and departed this life on July 25, 2016 at the Golden Living Care Center in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 88 years.

On February 19, 1977 she was united in marriage to Jewel “LUDE” Johnson. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death on May 1982.

Mrs. Johnson was a lifetime member of the Bernie Church of the Nazarene; she loved singing and enjoyed being part of a trio in her younger years. She began her adult life as a teacher in a one room school house near Powe, Missouri.  Maxine loved bookkeeping and transitioned to that field of work as the Bernie City Clerk in Bernie, Missouri.

Survivors include one son Charles Foster and wife Londa or Springfield, Virginia; one daughter, Darlene Hersh and husband Barry of North Little Rock, Arkansas; also by three granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2016. 

Funeral service will then be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 with Rev. Robert Hamm officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

In Loving Memory of Grace Keeling

Grace L. Keeling, daughter of the late William Pleasant and Hazel Amy Heartwell Maddox, was born in Portageville, Missouri on May 7, 1929, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on July 23, 2016, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 16 days.

She had lived many years in the Hayti and Steele and had spent the past 25 years in Dexter. She had worked at a nursing home in Steele for many years in housekeeping a and was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

She was first married to Jewel Warner Burris in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1985. On November 3, 1986, she was married to Ivy John "I.J." Keeling in Blytheville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2014.

Surviving are two daughters, Pat Ellis of Dexter, Jodi Wyatt of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Larry and Mike Burris both of Dexter, Eddie Burris of St. Louis, Darrell Burris of Poplar Bluff; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; five sisters, Gladys Smith of Humboldt, Tennessee, Maythel Hubbard of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Barbara Ricter of Dallas, Texas, Jan King of Wappapello, Missouri, Wilma Cravens of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Don Allen of Poplar Bluff. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one great grandson, Andy Burris; two brothers, Billy & Henry Allen and one sister, Bessie Allen.

Visitations will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, after 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Memorial Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at 4:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Frank Lane of Hayti, Missouri officiating.

In Loving Memory of Patricia Tilley

Patricia "Patty" Tilley, daughter of Evelyn Latham Crowell and the late Jack Crowell, was born in Stoddard County, Missouri on February 17, 1941, and passed away at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter, Missouri on July 24, 2016, at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 7 days.

She had lived all of her life in Stoddary County. She was a member of the Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter. She devoted her life taking care of her family and liked to read, crochet, and garden when she could.

Surviving are one son & wife, John & Felicia "Pete" Tilley of Bloomfield Missouri; two daughters, Marty Starnes of Dexter, Tammy and husband Danny Starnes of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren and spouses, Jessica & Darrell Penberthy, Amanda & Dennis Graser, Melinda Tilley, Mitchell & Kendall Tilley, Paige Snelson, Allison Snelson, and Brent Starnes; Brice Earnheart; Brady Bradshaw. twelve great grandchildren, Lawles & Willa Graser, Caroline, Jack & Lydia Penberthy, Amyah Clayborne, Wyatt Snelson, Sadie and Elijah Tilley; Camden Earnheart, Willow and Presley Bradshaw; Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Crowell, brother, Ronnie Crowell and sister, Bonnie Crowell and twin daughters Mary and Sherry Tilley.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Ray Rowland of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

In Loving Memory of Tyler Halsey

Tyler Halsey, son of Tammy and Terry Kennedy of Dexter and Andrew Halsey of Kansas City, Missouri was born on June 29, 1993 in Monette, Missouri and departed this life at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff at the age of 23.

Tyler was a resident of Dexter and a graduate of Dexter Senior High School.  He worked for Townsend Tree Service on their road crew and tree removal service.

Besides his mother, father and step-father he is survived by three sisters, Aurora Marie Stucker of Poplar Bluff, Cayce Noelle Halsey of Dexter and Angelica Marie Louise Kennedy of Dexter.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Wednesday at 6:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.
