Lester Caldwell

Lester Caldwell of Wappapello, son of the late Grover Alvin and Sylvia Madeline Hyten Caldwell, was born in Puxico, Missouri on June 18, 1944, and passed away at his home in Wappapello, June 8, 2016, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 22 days.

Mr. Caldwell had lived in St. Charles & O'Fallon, Missouri until moving to Wappapello in 2002, after retiring from McDonnell-Douglas Aerospace with 27 years of service. He was an active member of the Duck Creek Baptist Church near Puxico. He enjoyed camping, fishing, dutch oven cooking, deer hunting and traveling.

On March 24, 1997 he married Shirley Stevenson Schlater in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Caldwell of Wappapello; son & wife, Tony & Marsha Caldwell of St. Charles; daughter & husband, Amy & Douglas Rusk of Salem; five grandchildren, Kendra & Malcolm Roach, Jacob & Justin Rusk, Amanda & Charles "C.J." Schlater; three great grandchildren, Bryant, Carson & Natalie Roach. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Carroll & Jimmie Alvin Caldwell, and one son, Bruce Schlater.

Friends may call on Friday, June 10, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Duck Creek Baptist Church near Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Buck Cruse of Puxico officiating.
Interment will follow in the Duck Creek Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Charles Earl Houart, Jr.

Charles Earl Houart, Jr. of Dexter, son of the late Charles Earl, Sr. and Elsie Bond Houart, was born in Randles, Missouri on June 18, 1935, and passed away at the Southeast Healthcare Center of Stoddard County in Dexter, Missouri on June 7, 2016, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 20 days.

Mr. Houart had lived in the Dexter area most of his life. He had worked on a river boat as a deck hand before he retired. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Dexter.

Surviving are four daughters, Sherry Bader of Brighton, Tennessee, Kelly Baker of Puxico, Lee Ann Stanfill and Rena Hefner both of Advance; three sons, Marvin Bennett of Chaffee, Welsey Bennett of Missouri, Kerry Bennett of Advance; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Lemons of Brunswick, Ohio, Jane Mobley of Doniphan: one brother, William Paul Houart of Fredericktown. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Dean Houart and two sisters, Billie Presley and Frances J. Mitchell.

Friends may visit on Friday, June 10, 2016 after 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Karen Hardin of Dexter and Rev. Darren Baker of Puxico officiating.

Interment will be at a later date with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Andrew Lynn Holt, age 37, died June 4, 2016 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

Born April 11, 1979 in Sikeston, the son of Perry Holt and Kelley Jo (Hill) Holt, both survive of Sikeston.

He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He had attended Sikeston High School, where he was an avid soccer player, and graduated from Richland High School in 1999. He worked as a metal porter for St. Claire Die Casting Company in St. Louis, Missouri.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by paternal grandmother, Gail Holt of Sikeston; one brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin Tyler & Gloria Holt of Golconda, Illinois; and two nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 8, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church. The Rev. A.J. Wollenburg, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Norma Isaac

Norma Isaac, daughter of the late Horace and Dova Cato Crites, was born in Greenbrier, Missouri on February 13, 1933, and passed away at her home near Puxico, Missouri on June 1, 2016, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 19 days.

Mrs. Isaac had lived in the Puxico area all of her life. She was a member of the Kinder Chapel General Baptist Church near Puxico. She had worked as a cook at the Puxico Public Schools and enjoyed gardening, dogs, birds and cats.

On September 7, 1952, she married Albert Isaac in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2003.

Surviving are one son, Larry Isaac of Matthews, two daughters & husbands, Marjorie & Danny Robinson of Advance, Andra and Terry Hawkins of Zalma; ten grandchildren, April, Andrew, Tara, Kimberly, Jason, Jennifer, Adam, Jody, Alex and Dana; 18 grandchildren, Scotty, Madyson, Kendra, Kayla, Drew, Alex, Austin, Cheyann, Dalton, Kolton, Nocholas, Austin, Bryant, Jace, Taylor, Joshua, Bradley, and Destiny; one great great grandchild, Piper; one sister, Emma Nevada Price of St. Louis; special daughter-in-law, Glenda Isaac Rush; and special care giver, Carmen Trout. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Isaac.

Friends may call on Friday, June 3, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico and Rev. Elijah Allen of Marble Hill officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fagan Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Larry Joe Whitsel, Jr.

Larry Joe Whitsel Jr., son of Deborah Whitsel of Dexter and the late Larry Joe Whitsel Sr., was born on October 26, 1975 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on May 28, 2016 at his residence in rural Dexter at the age of 40.

Mr. Whitsel was Co-Owner of Debbie and Son Glass Company in Dexter.

Besides his mother, Mr. Whitsel is survived by one son, Jacob Tyler Whitsel of Dexter and by one sister, Tori Carter of Benton, Missouri.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. 

A Memorial Service will then be conducted on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.
