Charles T. Buddy Houchins Obituary

Charles T. "Buddy" Houchins of Cape Girardeau, son of the late Charles W. & Tennie Louisa Tate Houchins, was born in Portageville, Missouri on March 14, 1945, and passed away at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on May 5, 2016, at the age of 71 years 1 month and 21 days.

Buddy had lived in the Sikeston area and had lived in Essex for over 30 years. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church.

Surviving are one sister & husband, Bonnie & Benny Hendon of Benton, Missouri; three brothers & wives, Larry & Ronna Houchins of Wappapello, Missouri, Frank & Kitty Houchins of Dexter, Missouri, Gary & Louanna Houchins of Bloomfield, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one four sisters, Glenna Cline, Connie Houchins, Pricilla Ann Oliver and Shelby Jo Copeland; and one brother, John C. Houchins.

Friends may call on Monday, May 9, 2016, after 12:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Jack Owens of Scott City, Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Anna Myrtle Bruce, daughter of the late Seldon Daniel and Ada Reynolds Daniel, was born on May 10, 1931 in Lamar, Arkansas and departed this life on May 6, 2016 at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 84.

Mrs. Bruce was of the Baptist faith, a homemaker and a resident of Bloomfield.

In 1952, she was united in marriage to John Henry “J. H.” Bruce in Sikeston, Missouri.  Mr. Bruce preceded her in death on July 5, 1979.

She is survived by three sons, David Bruce of Dexter, Missouri, John Bruce of Bloomfield, Missouri and Keith Bruce and wife Marrianne of Dexter, Missouri; by four daughters, Diane Hanner and husband Robert of Bloomfield, Missouri, Martha Rowland and husband Terry of Fisk, Missouri, Dorothy Beyer of Dexter, Missouri and Sarah Fluty and husband Joe of Louisa, Kentucky; by one brother, James Daniel of Lamar, Arkansas; by one sister, Mary Causey of Sikeston, Missouri; by thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Jane Bruce; by one brother in infancy; by four sisters, Helen Colvin, Louise Miller, Ellen Johnson and Ruth Cowell; and by two grandchildren, Alan Hanner and Kevin Hanner.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. John Stepp officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri.

Judy Bennett Vieth, daughter of the late Hazel and Russell Bennett was born on January 24, 1946 in San Francisco, California and departed this life on April 27, 2016 in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 70.

 

She is survived by her husband, Roger Vieth; her son Jeff Heinemann and wife Angela; her daughter, Julie Bergen and husband Harlan; her step-son, Kent Sontheimer and wife Marrietta; her step-daughter, Nikki Amber; nine grandchildren; her sister, Joyce McIntosh; her brother, Jerry Bennett; her sisters-in-law, Kathryn Keasler and Peggy Cox; her brother-in-law, Bill Vieth; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Friends may call at the White Oak Grove General Baptist Church in Bernie, Missouri on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon with funeral services beginning at 12:00 Noon. 

 

Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Bobby Neal Vandiver Obituary

Bobby Neal Vandiver, son of the late William Walter Vandiver and Melvina Middleton Vandiver, was born on November 18, 1934 in Lexington, Tennessee and departed this life on May 4, 2016 at Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter at the age of 81.

        

Mr. Vandiver was a resident of Bloomfield and had worked as a truck driver for East Texas Motor Freight and a farmer.

 

On January 13, 1956, he was united in marriage to Carol M. Magee in Circle City, Missouri.  Mrs. Vandiver preceded him in death on January 29, 2009.

 

He is survived by one son, Michael Vandiver, by two daughters, Deborah Coggins and husband Glen and Denise Griffin, all of Bloomfield, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Brian Coggins and Megan Vandiver; and by three great-grandchildren, Maddilyn Coggins, Brynlee Coggins and Braxton Coggins.

 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Grady Vandiver.

 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. 

 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. 

 

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.

Wiley McGhee Obituary

Wiley McGhee, son of the late James Monroe and Lillie Frances Julian McGhee, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on January 13, 1913, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing and Rehab Center in Puxico, Missouri on May 3, 2016, at the age of 103 years, 3 months and 20 days.

Mr. McGhee was a retired minister and had pastored in Gainesville, Missouri for many years. He returned to Puxico in 1978 and pastored the Puxico Christian Church until his retirement. He had been active in the Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star and had worked with the Red Cross.

On July 1, 1933, he was married to Lydia Pansy Parmenter in Bloomfield, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2001.

Surviving are one daughter & husband, Ann & Grady Smith of Puxico, Missouri; two sons & wife, James & Kathy McGhee and Randy McGhee all of Jefferson City, Missouri; five grandchildren; several great & great great grandchildren; sister, Rita Ferguson of Dexter; and brother, Paul McGhee of Dexter. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a granddaugher, Andrea Smith; sister, Marie Peck; and two brothers, Tom & John "Cotton" McGhee.

Friends may call on Friday, May 6, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Watknis & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. of Puxico, Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
