Jacqueline S. Griffin Obituary

Jacqueline S. Griffin, daughter of Geraldine Leathers Warren of Dexter  and the late John R. Warren, was born on May 19, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on April 19, 2016 at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 63.

 

Mrs. Griffin was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.  She had worked at Purolator in Dexter, Tetra Pak at Sikeston, as a waitress at the Hickory House Restaurant and the Hickory Log Restaurant, both in Dexter, and she was a homemaker.

 

On December 4, 1971, she was united in marriage to Bobby Griffin in Dexter.  Mr. Griffin survives of their home in Dexter.

 

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by one son, Tim Griffin and wife Amy of Chesapeake, Virginia; by one brother, Rick Warren of Tonopah, Arizona; by one sister, Judy Hester of Dexter, Missouri; by one special niece, Kayla Hester; by one step-son, John W. Griffin of Dexter, Missouri; and by one grandson, Jacob Griffin.

 

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael John Griffin.

 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Mike Kohlbaker officiating. 

 

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Lynn B. Cariton Obituary

Lynn B. Carlton, daughter of the late Albert Velander and Dorothy Hayn Velander, was born on January 25, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois and departed this life on April 19, 2016 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 73.

Mrs. Carlton was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter.  She had worked as an elementary school teacher.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered in several ministries for the Lighthouse Christian Center.

On June 4, 1966, she was united in marriage to Jim Carlton in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  Mr. Carlton survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Dan Carlton and wife Tracy of Lincoln, Nebraska; by two daughters, Julie Carlton of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Cynthia Mosbey and husband Dwayne of Licking, Missouri; by two brothers, David Velander of Louisville, Kentucky and Robert Velander of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; by one sister, Sharon Velander-Canfield of Imperial Beach, California; by four grandchildren, Theron Mosbey, Levi Carlton, Shaley Mosbey and Zayden Carlton; and by two great-grandchildren, Dean Mosbey and Alana Mosbey.

Visitation begins at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted at the Lighthouse Christian Center on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.

Rita Jo Halford, daughter of Charles Stanfield of Canal Winchester, Ohio and the late Velda Workman Anderson, was born on October 20, 1948 in Bloomfield, Missouri and departed this life on April 17, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Dexter at the age of 67.

Mrs. Halford was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dexter.  She enjoyed singing in quartets and played piano for several area churches.  She was a farm wife in the Bell City area for many years. 

On April 19, 1968, she was united in marriage to Norman Halford in Oran, Missouri.  Mr. Halford preceded her in death on July 22, 2004.

In addition to her father Charles Stanfield and his wife Linda, she is survived by one son, Bradley Dwight Halford and his wife Norma of Oran, Missouri, by one brother, David Stanfield of Franklin, Tennessee; by five sisters, Karen Tucker of Olatha, Kansas, Lori Reynolds of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Allison Hiser of Pickerington, Ohio, Charlotte Harris of Sulfur, Louisiana and Cindy Champion of Waterloo, Illinois; by her step-father, Bill Anderson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; by three grandchildren, Marcus Flacy, Trey Anderson and Zach Anderson; and by one great-grandchild, Kurt Allen Flacy.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Shane Mallard officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.

Denzil Gregory

Denzil Gregory, son of the late Ulesses Sterl and Ada Evelyn Pyle Gregory, was born on October 6, 1929, in Bernie, Missouri and passed away at the Baisch Nursing Center in DeSoto, Missouri on April 16, 2016, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 10 days.

He had been a resident of Poplar Bluff, Missouri before moving to Pevely, Missouri in 1961. He had worked as a machinist for the Dorris Motor Co.

On October 9, 1954, he was married to Betsy Louise Hoxworth in Hernando, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2013.

Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Harter of Festus, Missouri and Cheryl Robinson of Manchester, Missouri; one son, Wayne Gregory of Dellwood, Missouri; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Carpenter of Salem, Missouri and Mildred Hardin of Hazelwood, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dawsey Gregory.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, after 11:30 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Mary Adkins Obituary

Mary Adkins, daughter of the late Albert Otto Parmer and Luda Jordan Parmer was born on April 30, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on April 9, 2016 at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 87.

Mrs. Adkins was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield and had worked at Elder Manufacturing as a machinist sewer.  She was a resident of Bloomfield.

On May 17, 1944 she was united in marriage to Russell Williams, he preceded her in death on May 11, 1987.  She later married Ruben Adkins on August 12, 1996.  Mr. Adkins preceded her in death on December 31, 2005.

She is survived by two sons, John and his wife Catherine Williams of Bloomfield and by Donnie Williams and Barbara Jones of Dexter; by one daughter, Brenda Conner of Dexter; by one sister, Billie Estes of Marshall, Missouri and by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Besides her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Rick Conner and by one brother, Elmer Parmer.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, April 11, 2016 from Noon until 2:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter. 

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
