Jo Ann VanGilder

Jo Ann VanGilder, daughter of the late Walter W. Davis and Wanda Lee Taylor Davis, was born on December 28, 1948 and passed away on March 30, 2014 at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 65. 

Mrs. VanGilder had worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant, was a homemaker and a resident of Dexter.

She is survived by four sons, James Davis and wife Mary of Deweyville, Texas, Larry Childers, Timmy Childers and Donny VanGilder; by one daughter, Lori Tellor of Sikeston; by one brother, David Lee Davis and wife Cathy of Reyno, Arkansas; by one sister, Carol Sue Whitchurch of Poplar Bluff; and by six grandchildren, Ashley Jackson, Joshua Sauceda and Jacob Sauceda all of Sikeston and Tiara Sturgeon, James Davis and Dakota Davis all of Poplar Bluff.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Eugene Davis; and by one sister, Phyllis Mary Robinett. 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted at Hagy Cemetery ar 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 with Rev. Steve Tipton officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

Mary Ellen Binford, daughter of the late Robert and Mary Jane McDaniel Midgett, was born in Puxico, Missouri on September 21, 1933, and passed away at her home in Puxico, Missouri on March 30, 2014, at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 9 days.

She had lived in the Puxico area all of her life. She was a part of the Puxico Class of 1952, and a charter member of the Puxico First General Baptist Church. She had worked as a clerk at the IGA and Bill's Market, was a member of the Puxico Square Dancing Club and loved drinking coffee at Mel's.

On June 28, 1952, she was married to Gene Binford in Piggott, Arkansas.

Surviving are her husband, Gene Binford of Puxico, Missouri; one son & wife, Ray & Margaret Binford of Puxico, Missouri; two daughters and husbands, Patty & Jim Wagner of Puxico, Missouri, Susan & Ron Hitt of Bloomfield, Missouri; six grandchildren & spouses, Jennifer & Kevin Green, Nickolas & Samantha Wagner, Tiffany & Jason Jenkins, Crystal & Bhushan Hill, Adam Wagner and Derek & Kristin Binford; and 13 great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Joanna Crouch, Cora Belle Kesterson, Naomi White; and four brothers, Paul, Robert, Thomas & Harry Midgett.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 1, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Doyle Mitchell of Puxico and the Rev. Russ Chitwood of Advance officiating.

Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

Mary Alice King, daughter of the late Lloyd Prater and Nellie Hartwell Prater was born in Bragg City, Missouri on October 10, 1930 and departed this life in SoutheastHealth of Stoddard County, Dexter, Missouri on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the age of 83.

Mrs. King had worked at Elder Manufacturing Company of Dexter, Missouri, was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany General Baptist Church of Rural Campbell, Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Cloyce Herbert King in Piggott, 
Arkansas on November 19, 1950.  Mr. King preceded his wife in death on June 16, 2011.

Survivors include three sons, Danny King & wife Becky, Ricky King & wife Leah all of Dexter, Missouri, Steven King & wife Julie of Perryville, Missouri; by one brother Calvin Prater of Fredericktown, Missouri; by two sisters, Joan Kelley of Hillsboro, Missouri and Pat Ingles of Bernie, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Jeffrey King, Michael King, Natalie King, Emily King; also by other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband, by two brothers, Harold Prater and Donald Prater.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in BERNIE, Missouri on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday afternoon, March 30, 2014 starting at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Bryon Johnson officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery in Rural Campbell, Missouri.

Kenny Breitweg

Kenny Breitweg, son of the late William John Breitweg, Jr. and Virginia Blackstone Breitweg, was born in Long Beach, California on July 7, 1943, and passed away at his home in Swinton, Missouri on March 27, 2014, at the age of 70 years.

Mr. Breitweg had lived in California and Arkansas until moving to the Swinton area eighteen years ago. He was retired as a dental professor and Baptist minister. Mr. Breitweg proudly served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

In July of 1984  he married Linda Fox.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Breitweg of Swinton, Missouri; one son, Kenneth Breitweg, Jr. of Idaho; two daughters, Angie Ellis and Ginney Hunter both of Dexter, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, William John Breitweg, III of Indianapolis, Indiana; and two sisters, Anita Erickson of Waldron, Arkansas and Lisa Henry of Hollywood, Arkansas. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two sons and one sister.

Graveside Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with the Rev. Gary Cooper of Advance, Missouri officiating.

Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Patricia K. Whitman

Patricia K. Whitman, daughter of the late Lieutenant Colonel Ewell Martin and Constance Martin, was born on March 11, 1943 in Sydney, Australia and passed away on March 22, 2014 at SoutheastHealth in Cape Girardeau at the age of 71.

Mrs. Whitman had formerly been employed as a graphic designer at the Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper in Atlanta, Georgia and was a resident of Dexter.  She was very artistic and talented and was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by one son, Chris Martin O’Neal and wife Jenny of Dexter; by two daughters, Shannon L. Hughes and husband Larry of Dexter and Bobbi Jo of Georgia; and by three grandchildren, Jeffrey E. Kinney, Gabriel O'Neal and Summer O'Neal.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela C. Seymour.

A memorial service for Mrs. Whitman will be held at a later date.  Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
