Lillie Mae Lemons aka Toots Peck

Lille Mae Lemons is her name.  “Toots” Peck is her fame.

Lillie Mae Lemons was born on February 6, 1916 and passed at the age of 98 on February 21, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Bloomfield.

Toots was welcomed into heaven where she was reunited with her husband (the love of her life), Vernie Peck; her mother and father, James and Frances Lemons; and a lifetime of family and friends.

Toots and Vernie were united in marriage August 8, l931.  Vernie preceded her in death on January 19, 1953.

She was a member of Risen Church; a resident of Dexter, worked at Elders and was a full-time mom and dad to her kids.  Toots loved visiting family and friends at the local nursing homes.

Toots is survived by her son, Darrol Peck and wife Faye of Jasper, Alabama; her daughter, Judi Peck of Dexter and the son they raised, Charles Chadwell and wife Becky of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.  Many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces also survive her.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Toot’s favorite saying when asked how she was doing was, “Fine and dandy.  Sweet as candy!”

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Steve Tippen officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
