
Russell E. Davis, the son of the late John J. and Ruby Sherwood Davis, was born in Grayridge, Missouri on July 15, 1931, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on July 9, 2013, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 24 days.
He had lived in Grayridge all of his life. He had been a farmer and ran the Grocery Store in Grayridge for many years.
In September of 1973 he was married to Johnnie Scott in Jackson, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Johnnie Davis of Grayridge, Missouri; two sons, Michael E. Davis of Grayridge, Steven Davis of Mississippi; one daughter, Vicki West of Raliegh, North Carolina; three grandsons, Jeffery Davis of Puxico, John Davis of Mississippi, Jeremy Russell Davis of Essex; one granddaughter, Mikalyn Johnna Davis of Essex; one great grandchild; one sister, Joyce Barney of O'Fallon, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Acorn.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. David Looney of Sikeston, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Essex Cemetery in Essex with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Lowenn Land passed away peacefully in Orange, California on July 6, 2013 at the age of 82. She was born on August 10, 1930 in Benton, Illinois to Martha and Charles Cook (deceased). She graduated high school in DuQuoin, Illinois and received her bachelors in Music Education from Phillips University in Enid, OK.
She was married to Rev. Stanley Land (deceased) for 48 years. They lived in Republic, Afton and Dexter, Missouri, then Parsons, Kansas, and retired to Neosho, Missouri. Lowenn moved to Fullerton, CA in 2009 to be closer to her grandaughter.
Mrs. Land had been a resident of Dexter, Missouri for 18 years from 1968-1986.
Lowenn is survived by three sons, Doug Land (wife Jamie), of Belton, Missouri; Chris Land of North Hollywood, California; and Kent Land (wife Merlan) of Redondo Beach, California; and her granddaughter, Lorelai Lowenn Land of Redondo Beach, California.
Lowenn was a wonderful musician and performer who shared her talents generously. She sang and played piano, guitar and marimba, and was a passionate educator who taught music, guitar and chorus for 30 years. She also led choir and youth ministries at Disciples of Christ churches in Dexter, Missouri and Parsons, Kansas.
Lowenn will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. Her humor, appreciation for life, positive outlook and strong faith will be her living legacy that affects everyone who ever had the pleasure of getting to know her.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Christian Church of Fullerton, California on Saturday, July 13 at 10am. A graveside service and a celebration of life gathering will be planned for Saturday, July 20 in Neosho, MO. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Stroke Association at Lowenn’s Memorial page.

Bill Hardin, son of the late Russell Hardin and Mary Louise Elmore Hardin was born on January 30, 1942 in Hickman, Kentucky and passed away on July 6, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Dexter at the age of 71.
Mr. Hardin worked for General Motors in Michigan; he was a farmer and had worked for the Dudley Special Road District for the past several years. He was a resident of Dudley and attended the Peoples Full Gospel Church in Dudley.
He is survived by one brother, Bob Hardin of Dudley and by many friends.

Velma Harris, daughter of the late Harvey Phillips and Bertha Brown Phillips was born on May 28, 1935 at Hayti and departed this life in her residence at Dexter on July 5, 2013 at the age of 77.
Mrs. Harris was of the Baptist Faith, a home-maker and a resident of Dexter.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherry (Darrell) Ray of Bloomfield, Debbie Smith of Bloomfield and Bridget (Jimmy) Bowers of Dexter: by five sons, Dale (Tammy) Harris, Robbie (Susan) Harris, Michael (Tamra) Harris, Jason (Samantha) Harris all of Dexter and Brian (Julie) Harris of Poplar Bluff: by one sister, Jenny Willoughby of the State of Michigan: by two brothers, Harvey (Betty) Phillips of Farmington and Arvell (Linda) Phillips of Poplar Bluff.
She is also survived by thirty- three grandchildren, Jason Harris, Chris Harris, Nathan Harris, Blake Harris, Brandi Bennett, Marissa Lesley, Arthur Love, Michelle Ray, Dana Degen, Misty Garner, Jamie Kuykendall, Jeremy Conner, Nick Harris, Taylure Harris, Kristy Testa, Mandy Adams, Afton Harris, Kyle Bowers, Brianna Bowers, Zach Bowers, Natasha Harris, Ashley Jones, Tiffany Hernandez, Michael Harris, Jonathan Sullivan, Jacob Curry, Brianna Harris, Emily Harris, Katie Cletcher, Sienna Cletcher, Brittany Harris, Christina Harris and Jeanna Harris: and by thirty- three great-grandchildren.

Dr. Wayne Wood, son of the late Estes Worth Wood and Emily Margaret Johnson Wood, was born on November 11, 1926 in Karnak, Illinois and departed this life on July 3, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 86 years.
Dr. Wood was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter. He pastored several churches in Southeast Missouri. He retired as the head of the Education Department at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II.
On January 13, 1945, he was united in marriage to Ruth N. Hickerson in Blytheville, Arkansas. Mrs. Wood preceded him in death on February 24, 2012.
He is survived by one daughter, Maria Chamberlain and husband, Tim, of Dexter, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Wesley Tolbert and wife, Allison, of Houston, Texas and Emily Crow and husband, Dr. Brad Crow, of Danville, California; by two great-grandchildren, Sarah Tolbert and Lydia Tolbert; by one great-great-grandchild, Jaxon Slavings; by two step-grandchildren, Ashley Thomas of Tallahassee, Florida and Beau Chamberlain of Dexter, Missouri; by one step-great-grandchild, Brayden Thomas; by two sisters, Edith Collie of Peoria, Illinois and Nila Kotter of Metropolis, Illinois; and by a niece who was raised in the home as a daughter, Sue Foster and husband, Ernest, of Mountain View.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Wood and Raymond Wood and by six sisters, Opal Lowe, Sylvia Johnson, Fern Meyer, Niva Bremer, Evan June Riepe and Helen Wood.
