
Otis E. Swinger, son of the late Hershal and Gladys Snider Swinger, was born near Dexter, Missouri on April 27, 1926, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on February 13, 2013, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 17 days.
He had lived in Dexter most of his life until moving to Wappapello eight years ago. He had worked as a self employed auto mechanic and was a member of the Church of Christ in Essex. He had served in the US Army Signal Corp under General George S. Patton during World War II through out Europe.
He was first married to Bonnie Jean Curd on September 20, 1947. She preceded him in death on May 11, 1977. On December 1, 1979, he was married to Mary Alice Reaves Johnson in Marble Hill, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife; Mary Alice Swinger of Wappapello; four sons, Darrell Swinger and Paul Swinger both of Dexter, David Johnson of Bloomfield, Ron Johnson of Poplar Bluff; four daughters, Betty Black of Bloomfield, Debra Ward of Poplar Bluff, Dana Johnson of Cordova, Tennessee, Melissa Moore of Holcomb; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Harry Swinger of Dexter, Chet Swinger of Wabash, Indiana and Marlin Swinger of Morehouse. Other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Elaine Ward in 1999; three brothers, Junior, Lester and Charles Swinger; and one sister, Fern Gaines.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 19, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Bro. Herman Morse of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full Military Honors. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Retha Marie Sissum, daughter of the late Charles and Abbie Simms Rackley, was born in Russellville, Arkansas on September 25, 1927, and passed away at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Home in Dexter, Missouri on February 13, 2013, at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 19 days.
She had lived in Puxico most of her life and attended the Puxico General Baptist Church in Puxico. She had enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and cooking.
On June 15, 1940, she was married to William Lester Sissum in Pope County, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1983.
Surviving are two sons, David & Lora Sissum of Dexter, Missouri and Michael & Vickie Sissum of Puxico, Missouri; two daughters,Carolyn & Randy Madison of Belleview, Illinois, and Linda & Ed Brooks of Rich Hill, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one brother, Bob Rackley of Texas; and one sister, Mae McDonald of Russellville, Arkansas. Other family and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two sons, William Ray Sissum and Kenneth Gene Sissum; one daughter, Betty Sue Irwin; one grandson, Robert Mark Dunn; one great granddaughter, Victoria Dunn; three brothers, JC Rackley, Lawrence Rackley, and Elmer Rackley.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, after 11:00 AM at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Jimmy Clark of Puxico officiating and with Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield, Missouri assisting.

Tim Lee, son of Freida Martin Lee of Dexter, Missouri, and the late Herbert Lee, was born on July 21, 1964, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and died on February 10, 2013, at Poplar Bluff, Missouri at the age of 48.
Tim was a member of the Liberty Hill Church in Aid, Missouri, a heavy equipment operator and a resident of Dexter.
On October 12, 1985, he was united in marriage to Kandie Burnett in Dexter, Missouri. Mrs. Lee survives of the home.
In addition to his mother and his wife, he is survived by his son, Nathan Lee of Independence, Missouri; by his sister, Karen Jines of Dexter, Missouri; and by his mother-in-law, Mary Louise Burnett of Dexter, Missouri.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Thomas Martin officiating.
Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery.


Forest S. Denton, son of Bernice Evelyn Strange Denton and the late Hershell B. Denton, was born in Flora, Illinois on April 12, 1944, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 10, 2013, at the age of 68 years.
He had lived in and around Flora, Illinois most of his life until moving to Puxico 12 years ago. He had worked as an electrician and plumber and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He was first married in 1965, to Diane Sullivan in Louisville, Illinois and three children were born. In 2001, he was married to Wanda Hart in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife; Wanda Denton of Puxico, Missouri; two daughters, Shirley Acree of Louisville, Illinois, Tina Kilgore of Fountain, Colorado; one son, Tracy Denton of Braidwood, Illinois; one step-daughter, Anita Weedman of Norris City, Illinois; one step-son, Keith Moore of Puxico, Missouri, nine grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren; four sisters, Sharon (Cecil) Atchison of Marion, Illinois, Karen Denton of Iuka, Illinois, Terri Ettleson of Flora, Illinois and Toni (Darrell) Carder of Clay City, Illinois. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father and one nephew, Bryce Ettleson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 13, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Bobby Lee Cowart, son of the late Raymond and Alberta Mitchell Cowart, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 21,1944, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing & Rehab. Center in Puxico, Missouri on February 8, 2013, at the age of 68 years.
He had lived most of his life in Dexter area. He worked in agriculture.
On October 21,1982, he was married to Eva Mae Martin in Baldknob, Arkansas. She preceded him, in death on February 21, 1994.
Surviving are four daughters, Patricia Wright, and Amanda Green, both of Dexter Missouri, Bethany Clark, of Tupelo, Mississippi; Bobbie Sue, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Susie Henson of Ripley, Tennessee; two sons Harold Williams, of Guntown, Mississippi; and Robert Williams, Nettleton, Mississippi; nineteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Blanchard, of Festus, Missouri, and Barbara Coleman of Malden, Missouri. Other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, and four grandchildren.
A private family service is planned a later date, with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
