Jesse James Getter, Sr., son of the late Leonard Mann and Ollie Mae Jones Getter, was born in Marvel, Arkansas on November 23, 1947, and passed away at Southern Missouri Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on May 12, 2012, at the age of 64.

Mr. Getter had lived in Alton and East St. Louis, Illinois before moving to Essex in 2008. He was a retired machinist and had worked in an Aluminum Plant and was a member of the Mt. Zion Church at Gray Ridge.

On December 3, 2008, he was married to Essie Johnson in Belleville, Illinois.

Surviving are his wife, Essie Getter of Essex; two sons, Jesse James  Getter, Jr. of Elkhart, Indiana, Leonard James Getter of South Bend, Indiana; one daughter, Eunice Jones of Dothan, Alabama; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Jones and Billy Joe Getter both of Malden, Lee Dale Johnson of Parma; and one sister, Alice Ann Yvonne Evans of Parma. Other family and friends also survive. 

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mae Ida Whittaker.

Visitation will be held after 10 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012,  at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with Pastor Ronnie Mack of Mounds, Illinois officiating.

Interment will be in the Essex Cemetery in Essex.
