Lucille Evans

Lucille Evans, daughter of the late F.C. Dodd and Mammie Garner Dodd was born on March 3, 1922 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on May 13, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Evans was a homemaker and a resident of Dudley.

On February 20, 1945 she was united in marriage to Carl Evans in Malden. Mr. Evans preceded her in death on November 20, 2002.

Survivors include two daughters, Reva Carol Gallup of High Ridge, and Patricia Lynn Evans of Dudley; by three grandchildren, Norma Jean Winn, Larry Michael Evans, and Gina Kahkme; also by seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry D. Evans.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Interment will follow in the Caroline Dowdy Cemetery in Dexter.

Ale Clifford Cato
Ale Clifford Cato, 86, a resident of Cape Girardeau, died at The Chateau Girardeau on Thursday, May 10, 2012.

He was born on July 9, 1925, at Greenbriar, Missouri, to Lewis Wesley and Valley Mae Cato. He was united in marriage to Betty Eleanor Croy on June 10, 1946; after her death on March 30, 2008, he re-married Virginia Parker.

Mr. Cato joined the United States Navy on July 6, 1944, and was Honorably Discharged on May 28, 1946, and was an honored veteran of World War II. He worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation as a resident engineer; after his time there, he retired from Dumey Contracting, Inc. Mr. Cato was also active in the American Legion.

Loving survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law; Pamela and Tommy Horton, of Dexter, Mo., Sandra Cato of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Janet and Lee Cornelius of Perryville, Mo., and Amy and Greg Reynolds of McClure, Ill., eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Truman Cato of Dexter; his wife, Virginia Parker, and step-sons Michael Parker of Sikeston, Mo., and Stephen Parker of Spearfish, S.D.

Mr. Cato was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty E. Cato; his parents, Lewis W. and Valley M. Cato; his brother, Dale Cato, and one great-granddaughter, Lillian Holden.

Visitation services will be held Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Mo.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 14, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Morgan Funeral Home, with Reverend Eric Shrum Officiating.

Interment will follow in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance, Mo.

Barbara Jean Blake

Barbara Jean Blake, daughter of the late Howard and Venitta Marquis Burgess, was born on January 12, 1943, in Bloomfield, Missouri and passed away at the Independent Care Center in Perryville on May 8, 2012, at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 26 days.

Barbara and her husband had owned and operated Blake's Pawn Shop in Bloomfield for many years. She had lived in Bloomfield most of her life. She was a member of the Lick Creek Baptist Church.

On July 20, 1963, she was married to Jimmie Blake. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2006.

Surviving are one son, William Blake of Perryville; one daughter, Jamie Evans of Perryville; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one sister, Janet Rushin of of Bloomfield. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

Friends may visit on Thursday May 10, 2012, after 11:00 a.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Graveside Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 10, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Dennis Cebulak of Perryville officiating.
Interment will be in the Harper Cemetery near Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of all arrangements.

William Leroy Acord

William Leroy Acord, son of the late Benjamin Leroy Acord and Ruth Beatrice Cates Acord was born on August 25, 1955 and departed this life in the Southeast Missouri Hospital at Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on May 5, 2012 at the age of 56.

Mr. Acord was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, a resident of Campbell, formerly of Dexter and Malden.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Finch in January of 1993.  Mrs. Acord survives of the home in Campbell.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Tina Acord of Malden; by one brother, James Knight of Malden; by two sisters, Linda Lopaz of Texas and Janey of California. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nettie Northern.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from Noon until 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012.  Funeral services will then be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie.  Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

John D. Hartline, son of the late Fred Hartline and Emma Pavey Hartline was born on January 7, 1942 at Bernie and departed this life in his residence at Dexter, Missouri, on May 8, 2012 at the age of 70.   

Mr. Hartline was of the Baptist faith, a former Union Carpenter in Flint, Michigan, a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a resident of Dexter.   

He was united in marriage to Geralene Hicks on December 8, 1961, at Dudley. Mrs. Hartline preceded him in death on February 5, 2009. 

He is survived by four sons, Cecil Wayne Hartline, Scott Wayne Hartline, John Skylar Hartline and John Brock Hartline all of Dexter; by one daughter, Ginger Joree Demers of Dexter; by two brothers, Jerry Hartline of Texas and Bruce Hartline of Bernie; by two sisters, Charlotte Irish of Dexter and Barbara Putney of Flint, Michigan; and by five grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Nicholas Hartline; by two brothers, Harold Hartline and Bob Hartline; and by three sisters, Diane O’Conner, Patsy Franklin and Mary Hartline.  

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Dudley Cemetery.
