Vane L. Lindsay

Vane L. Lindsay, age 68, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at his home in Creston, Missouri,  under Hospice care, with his family at his side.

Vane Lamar Lindsey, only son of Helen P. (Williams) and J. Myrl Lindsay. was born January 3, 1944 in Poplar Bluff.  Vane graduated from Bernie High School, and then graduated with a degree in sociology from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro; followed by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis with an Associate Arts degree in Mortuary Science.

On March 25, 1972, 
Vane married Mary Ann (Precht) in Mexico, Missouri.  After graduation, Vane was employed by funeral homes in Missouri before purchasing the Keating-McKasson (Lindsay) Funeral Home in Creston in 1972.  Eventually, he purchased other funeral homes in Murray, Lorimor, Afton, and also built a funeral home in Corning.  He owned and operated Lindsay Memorials and Ojibway Farms where he raised registered purebred Limousin cattle.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Crest City Masonic Lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Eagles, and Creston Aviators.

Vane is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann of Creston; his mother, Helen P. Lindsay of Creston; two sons, Andrew Lamar Lindsay (Jean) of Allen, Texas, and Lamar Paul Lindsay (Stacey) of Salem, Oregon; three grandchildren, Shianne Eve, Nora Beth Helene, and Calum Lamar Lindsay; uncle Leroy Williams (Doris) of Bernie; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James N. and Edwina F. Clark, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Vane was preceded in death by his father, J. Myrl Lindsay, in 1989 and grandson, Shawn Patrick Kelley in 2009.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Bernie. Funeral services will then be conducted at 1:30 p.m., at the First Christian Church in Bernie with the Rev. Todd Allen officiating.  Interment will follow at Rucker Cemetery near Williamsville.
