Karen Ann Pippins

Karen Ann Pippins, daughter of Kyle and Alta Gordon, who preceded her in death, was born on March 31, 1957 in Nevada, Missouri and died on November 19, 2011 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 54.

Mrs. Pippins was a teacher in the Dexter Public School System for 30 years and had just retired in June.  She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter, Women of Faith Sunday School Class, a member of the Stoddard County Retired Teachers Association, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Stoddard County Relay for Life, Missouri State Teachers Association, and was the first recipient of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce 2009 Educator of the Year.  She was a resident of Dexter.

On September 4, 1982 she was united in marriage to Bill Pippins Jr. in Nevada, Missouri.  Mr. Pippins survives of their home in Dexter.

Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Matthew G. Pippins of Dexter; by one sister , Kelly Wrenn of Stockton, Missouri; by one sister-in-law, Nancy Rogers of Warrensburg, Missouri and by two nieces, Megan Gray of Kansas City, Missouri and Amanda Corbett of Warrensburg, Missouri.

Karen was a lover of life.  She cherished each day she had in her community during the past 13 years of battling cancer.  She was there for those who were battling breast cancer as a councilor and mentor.  She encircled herself with friends because they were her inspiration to carry on during this battle with the terrible disease.  She will always be remembered for her “win, win” attitude. 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, November 20 from 4 until 8 p.m..Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 10 a.m., in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Dr. Larry Colvin and Rev. Phil Warren officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.

The family has requested that memorials be made to one of the following:

Billy Andrew Collins

Billy Andrew Collins was born in the State of Louisiana on October 7, 1931 to Asis (Ace) and Loretta Duncan Collins Duffey.  He passed away on November 17, 2011 at the age of 80 years 1 month and 10 days. 

After the death of his father when Bill was seven or eight years old, Loretta and Bill returned to Advance, Missouri and Billy resided in the Advance and Bloomfield area the remainder of his life.  Billy worked on a farm in the Avert, Missouri area. 

Surviving are three sisters; Doris and David Blankinship of Jackson, Missouri, Nelda and Johnny Warrick of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Wanda Duffey of Florissant, Missouri; one brother, Ray and Marilyn Duffey; one brother-in-law, Owen Delbert Dye; many nieces and nephews, and many friends.  Bill was preceded in death by his father, Ace Collins; his stepfather and mother, Raymond and Loretta Duffey; and one sister, Valma Dye.

Bill was a member of the Bloomfield Church of Christ.  He loved attending church services, loved “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Memories”.  He always reminded those he loved that “God made a beautiful world.”  He was always concerned about going to Heaven.  He loved meeting people - at church and anyone who came down the halls at the Golden Living Center.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.   

Friends may call on Saturday, November 19, 2011 after 10:30 a.m., at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m.,  Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield Missouri with Bro. Kenneth Gaines and Ray Duffey officiating. 

Internment will be at the Morgan Cemetery near Advance, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

Edward Dallas McRoy

Edward Dallas McRoy, son of the late Bud and Ollie B.  Pruitt McRoy, was born on August 24, 1929, in Bloomfield, Missouri, and died at his residence on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 20 days. 

Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War.  He was a retired truck driver and had served as a City Alderman for Bloomfield in 1990. 

In 1948 he was united in marriage to Gloria Jean Becraft.  She survives at their home in Bloomfield, Missouri. 

Surviving are, one son and daughter-in-law, Dallas and Linda McRoy of Bloomfield, Missouri; two daughters, Teresa Barnes and Darlene Bowling, both of Bloomfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Jermy Tyre Wilson. 

Friends may call on Friday, November 18, 2011 after 11 a.m., at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 1 p.m., at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield Missouri with Rev. Bob Holland officiating. 

Internment will be at the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

Larry Gene Matthews

Larry Gene Matthews, son of the late Jack and Elsie Matthews was born on June 18, 1931 in Sikeston, Missouri and departed this life at the Golden Living Center in Dexter on Thursday morning November 17, 2011 at the age of 80 years.

Mr. Matthews was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, Missouri. He was a retired salesman of the American Tobacco Company and worked as the Zoning Inspector for the City of Dexter for several years after his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid fisherman the majority of life.

On June 17, 1950, he was united in marriage to Arabella Peggy Matthews. Mrs. Matthew survives in Dexter.

Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg Matthews and Barbara of Nixa, Missouri and Bryce Matthews and Sherry of Dexter, Missouri; by daughter-in-law, Melba Matthews of Springdale, Arkansas; by one brother, Lyman Matthews of Thousand Oaks, California; by six grandchildren, Morgan and Landon Matthews of Springdale, Arkansas, Amy and Lane Matthews of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Austin and Corbin Matthews of Dexter, Missouri; also by two great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Mason Dunn of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Randy Matthews; one sister, Irene Hunt, by five brothers, Jack Matthews, Reese Matthews, Joe Matthews, Jim Matthews, and Johnny Matthews.

Friends may call at the First United Methodist Church in Dexter from 10:00 until 11:00 P.M. Friday November 18, 2011.  Funeral services will then be conducted on Friday at 11:00 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church in Dexter with Rev. Mike Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Fruitland, Missouri .

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Dexter.

Kim Darlene Morgan, daughter of Robert Dodd and Dixie White Watkins, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on March 27, 1957, and passed away at her mother's home in Dexter, Missouri on November 16, 2011, at the age of 54 years, 7 months and 20 days.

She had lived in the Dexter, Missouri area most of her life. She was of Baptist Faith.

Surviving are two sons, DJ Morgan and Chris Jenkins, both of Dexter, Missouri; three brothers, Brian Dodd of Bernie, Missouri, Joey Dodd of Benicia, California, and Mike Watkins of Dexter, Missouri; and three grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by three stepbrothers, Richard Watkins, Robert Watkins, and John Kevin Watkins.

Friends may visit on Saturday, November 19, 2011, after 11 a.m., at the Pleasant Grove Church in Pyletown, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 1 p.m., at the Pleasant Grove Church in Pyletown, Missouri with the Rev. Paul Pierce of Pyletown, Missouri officiating.

Interment will be in the Sycamore Cemetery in Pyletown, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
