Ruby Pauline Skelton, daughter of the late Andrew Alexander and Lucy May Green Matthews, was born near Dexter, Missouri on April 14, 1930, and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield, Missouri on June 4, 2011, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 11 days.

Mrs. Skelton had lived in Bloomfield, Missouri all her life. She attended the Bloomfield Assembly of God Church. She had retired from Elder’s Manufacturing after 46 years and worked at McDonald’s for ten years.

On December 18, 1954, she was married to James Earl Skelton in Hernando, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2011.

Surviving are two sons, Larry Parker of Dexter, Missouri; Garry Parker of Bloomfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Chad, Jason, Heather and Matthew Parker, Jennifer Whatley, Casey Williams and Matt Banken; six great grandchildren; two nieces, Glenda Wilson and Carlene Barksdale; and one nephew, Roger Matthews. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Carl Matthews.

Reuben Johnson, son of the late Henry Rosco and Lectie Leona Boyles Johnson, was born in Qulin, Missouri on June 12, 1931, and passed away at his home near Bloomfield, Missouri on June 2, 2011, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 21 days. Mr. Johnson had lived in Bloomfield the past 41 years. He had worked at as a welder at Arvin Automotive until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

On December 22, 1962 he was married to Catherine Winchester in Alton, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Johnson of Bloomfield, Missouri; one son, Harold Winchester of Bloomfield, Missouri; two daughters, Barbara Johnson of Dexter, Missouri, Dee Davis Carr of Sebree, Kentucky; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Kenpisty of Detroit, Michigan. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 6, 2011, at 11 a.m., in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors conducted. Linda McCollough, daughter of the late William Christman and Bonnie Parks Christman was born on December 13, 1954 at Dexter and departed this life in her residence at Dexter on June 3, 2011 at the age of 56.

Mrs. McCollough was united in marriage to Delvis McCollough on February 18, 1995 at Wappapello. Mr. McCollough preceded her in death on August 21, 1995.

She is survived by one son, Robert Stoker of Bloomfield: by two daughters, Paula Stoker and Jessica McCollough both of Dexter: by one step-son, Terrell McCollough of Poplar Bluff: by three step-daughters, Cambrea Halcomb and Renee Banthrall both of Poplar Bluff and Sarah McCollough of Conway, Arkansas: by two brothers, Jimmy Christman of Hogden, Oklahoma and Bill Christman of Wappapello: by one sister, Brenda Ross of Bloomfield: by five grandchildren.

Helen M. Mick, daughter of the late Thomas and Carlie Johnson, was born March 13, 1924, in Bernie, Missouri and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield, Missouri on June 3, 2011, at the age of 87 years.

Mrs. Mick had lived in Lilbourn, Missouri before moving to the Bloomfield are in 1957. She had worked as at VNA as a home care worker and was a member of the First General Baptists Church in Bloomfield, Missouri.

On March 19, 1945, she was married to John H. Mick in Kingston, North Carolina. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2006.

Surviving three sons, Mike Mick of Dudley, Missouri, Joe Mick of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Stan Mick of Dexter, Missouri; one daughter, Karen Barton of Bloomfield, Missouri; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Johnson of Cleveland, Tennessee and Herman Johnson of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Hugh Michael Mick and several brothers and sisters.

Bertha Gates, daughter of the late Martin Wilfong and Ester Harrington Wilfong, was born on August 24, 1935 in Puxico, Missouri and passed away June 1, 2011 at her residence in Dexter at the age 75.

Mrs. Gates was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, a former inspector for Paramount Headwear, and a resident of Dexter.

On March 26, 1954 she was united in marriage to Bill J. Gates in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mr. Gates preceded her in death on December 31, 1999.

She is survived by two sons, Steven Gates and his wife Carol of Brockwell, Arkansas and Mark Gates and wife Cindy of Dexter; by two brothers, Donald Wilfong and Gary Wilfong both of Puxico; by one sister, Reva Cantrell of Puxico; and by four grandchildren, Bradley Gates, Matthew Gates, Justin Gates and Tommy Gates.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Lester Wilfong, Thurman Wilfong, David Wilfong, Eugene Wilfong, and Claude Wilfong; and by one sister, Vivian Pate.
