As many people are aware, Greg Banken has made the decision to sell his flower shop and move to Kansas City to practice more floral artistry.

Greg and his talents will be deeply missed by many people throughout the area, but the talent and shop of Gregory’s Creations will continue as Tim and Terry Holder plan to take over during the first of the year.

Terry Holder has been involved in the flower business prior to the purchase of Gregory’s Creations. “I’ve worked with Gregory some. I used to work full time, but I’ve been working with him part time recently, “ said Terry.

Terry stated that he has a past with floral artistry since his first job forty-one years ago actually involved the flower business.

Terry Holder recalls that he has worked at Cleo’s Service Station in Dexter full time for about fifteen years now. As many know, Cleo’s will be closing this Saturday after a successful fifty-eight years in business.

The idea to take over Gregory’s Creations got started whenever Gregory announced he wanted to sell. “He wanted to move his life to Kansas City so we talked about the possibility and it went from there. The flower business is a love of mine and I knew it was time to make a move,” Terry stated.

“I’d been working with Gregory and he knew I was interested so it was an easy choice.”

Terry and his brother Tim will be taking over the business January first. Of course the first day they will be in business will be January second however.

Currently, Terry builds furniture for a living, but says he’s been working at Gregory’s about as much as he builds furniture for the past three or four years. Terry is not sure if the furniture business is something he will be able to continue after taking over Gregory’s full time.

Terry assures everyone that there will be few changes as they take over. “We won’t be making any major changes. Gregory has been in business long enough that he knows what works and what doesn’t. There will be slight changes such as a little updating, but no changes in services or inventory.”

Terry closed by saying how excited he is to begin this new chapter in his life. He is happy for Greg for making the change and continuing to pursue his dreams, and also excited to start pursuing his own through the flower business.
