CAIRO – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that the bridge carrying U.S. 60/62 over the Mississippi River in Alexander County and Mississippi County, Mo., will reopen to traffic, weather permitting, by noon on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

The $5.86 million project, which consists of structural steel repairs, began in October 2023.

Originally anticipated to be completed Oct. 1, the work was finished a week ahead of schedule thanks to favorable weather and repairs going as planned.
