Dexter, Missouri - The Keller Public Library will be the home of the MINGO Photo Contest winning photos exhibit through the month of December.
Photos feature native wildlife and plants, and people in nature. The photos show the considerable photographic talent of youth and adults in southeast Missouri.
Winter is a special time to visit Mingo National Wildlife Refuge.
Waterfowl continue to arrive on the refuge.
The resident eagles are hanging around their nests, with eagles from the north adding to their numbers.
Deer are more easily seen in the winter.
The refuge is open from daylight to nightfall every day.
The Visitor Center Wildlife with its natural history exhibits is open weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm during the winter months.

Dexter, Missouri - The Stoddard County Genealogy Society and the Crowley's Ridge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) are sponsoring "Things to Remember", a genealogy workshop on searching military service and homestead records.
The workshop will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Keller Public Library.
The speakers will be Dr. Frank Nickell. He is the associate director of the State Historic Society of Missouri. Also speaking will be Carol Cannon. Both live in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The workshop will also feature music, door prizes, and lunch. The cost to attend the workshop is $15.00 and is due by September 19th or $20 if you register after September 19th.
Walk-ins are welcome. Registration and payment may be made to the Stoddard County Genealogy Society and mailed to P.O. Box 834, Dexter, Missouri 63841.
