Back to School Open House will be held on August 17th from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

First day of school will be August 23, 2021.

Richland Preschool and Kindergarten Screening and Enrollment Information

Essex, MO - Richland R-1 will host Preschool Screening and Kindergarten Enrollment on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

This is a 3-5 year old screening, as well as a Kindergarten screening/enrollment for the 2021-2022 academic school year.

Children must be 5 years old before August 1, 2021 to enroll in Kindergarten.

Please bring with you:

1. Your child

2. Certified Birth Certificate

3. Child's Social Security Card

4. Child's Updated Shot Record

5. Proof of Residency such as a utility bill with your name and address on it

Please note that the screenings usually take about 1 - 2 hours so plan accordingly.

You must call 573.283.5310 for an appointment

Richland Yearbook Staff Receives Awards

Richland’s The Rebel yearbook staff recently received 14 total awards during the 2019 Quill & Scroll National Yearbook Contest, including four Sweepstakes (first place) Awards.

The yearbook staff as a whole also received the Blue and Gold Award Staff Excellence for Comprehensive Visuals along with various photography and writing awards.

Ritch, Duffie, Blunt, and King all received Sweepstakes Awards for being the overall winners in various photo categories.

Ritch received the most awards of any student in the contest, with seven, including one sweepstakes, two second places, two third places, and two honorable mentions – all for photography.

Second Place for Clubs/Organization Photography

Wyman Named as Walter Williams Scholar
Esses, Missouri - Richland Class of 2019 graduate and valedictorian Kate Wyman was recently designated as a Walter Williams Scholar, a by-invitation-only distinction reserved for the top tier of high-ability freshman who plan to study journalism at the University of Missouri.

Wyman is one of the 89 students throughout the nation to receive the honor which includes: direct admission to Mizzou, a faculty mentor, a study abroad scholarship and automatic admission into the Mizzou’s one-year master’s degree program.

These are in addition to any other scholarships and special program acceptances at the University.

Wyman will attend the Missouri School of Journalism this fall in Columbia.

Richland Students Take Home National Photography Awards
Essex, Missouri - Richland R-1 School recently had four students take home national photography awards from the JEA/NSPA National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.

Senior Liza King, second to left, was awarded Superior in the Photography Portfolio category, designating her one of the best high school photographers in the nation.  King also taught a journalism class while at the convention.

Junior Jason Pinkley, left, took Excellent in Themed Photography, junior Allison Jones received Excellent in Sports Action Photography, and senior Kate Wyman was awarded Excellent in General Spot News Photography.

Of the 384 overall national competitors in the photography write-off competition, less than 15% received either a rating of either Superior or Excellent.
