Richland Eliminates Woodland from SCAA Varsity Tournament Competition

Bloomfield, Missouri - In a very close SCAA Boys Basketball Varsity Tournament Game #2 the #4 Richland Rebels (8-6) escaped the #5 seeded Woodland Cardinals (8-7) 48-47.

Richland led at the end of the first 10-8, end of the second 23-13, but Woodland gave them a little scare in the third quarter when the Cardinals out scored the Rebels 18-7.  Woodland led 31-30 going into the final period of the game.

The Rebels fought back and improved their record to 9-6 with the win.  They will play the winner of the Dexter vs Bell City game on Thursday, January 24th at 7 p.m.

Daniel Petty had a game-high 17 points for the Rebels. He finished with four buckets and three treys.

Tanner Freeman also was in double digits for Richland adding 11 points.  He hit one trey and four 2-pointers.

Woodland's Paul Duncan recorded a team-high 15 points on seven 2-pointers and one from the charity stripe.

Karson Skinner finished with 14 points on five buckets and four free-throws.

Final Score #4 Richland 48, #5 Woodland 47

Woodland JV Team Eliminates Puxico in Game #1 of the SCAA BB Tournament

Bloomfield, Missouri - The annual Stoddard County Athletic Association (SCAA) Boys Basketball Tournament is underway at Bloomfield High School.  The Junior Varsity match-up between the #4 seeded Woodland Cardinals and the #5 seeded Puxico Indians started the tournament.  Woodland came out on top 40 - 27 eliminating the Indians on Monday, January 21, 2019.

Woodland outscored Puxico in three of the four periods.  The first quarter was low scoring with Puxico only hitting one from the charity stripe.  By half-time Woodland led 17 - 8.  Puxico managed to outscore Woodland by 2 in the fourth, but it was not enough to overcome a 13 point gap.

Rafe Johnson tallied a team-high 14 points for the Cardinals on six buckets and was 2/4 at the charity stripe.

Puxico's Dalton Andrews earned a game-high 15 points.  He finished with 7 two-pointers and one free throw.

Final Score Woodland JV 40, Puxico JV 27

Puxico has been eliminated from SCAA play.  Woodland will play Dexter on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 4 p.m. at the Bloomfield High School gym.

SCAA JV Boys Basketball Tournament Seeds Released TODAY!

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Stoddard County Athletic Association 2019 Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Tournament meeting was held Saturday, January 12, 2019.  Seeds were selected and announced.

Dexter JV earned the #1 seed; #2 Bernie, #3 Bloomfield, #4 Woodland, and #5 Puxico.  Dexter, Bernie and Bloomfield all received a bye for the quarterfinal games.

#4 Woodland will play #5 Puxico at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st.

Dexter will play the winner of the Woodland vs Puxico game on January 24th at 4 p.m.

#2 Bernie JV will play #3 Bloomfield at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th.

Third place game will be on January 25th at 4 p.m. with the Championship game at 7 p.m.

Richland, Bell City, and Advance will not have junior varsity teams to participate.

SCAA Boys Basketball Varsity Tournament Seeds Announced TODAY!

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Stoddard County Athletic Association 2019 Boys Varsity Basketball Tournament meeting was held Saturday, January 12, 2019.  Seeds were selected and announced.

Dexter varsity received the #1 seed; #2 Bernie, #3 Advance, #4 Richland, #5 Woodland, #6 Bloomfield, #7 Puxico, and #8 Bell City.

Games begin Monday, January 21, 2019 at Bloomfield High School.

January 21st at 6:30 p.m. #4 Richland vs #5 Woodland and at 8 p.m. #2 Bernie vs #7 Puxico.

January 22nd at 6:00 p.m. #1 Dexter vs #8 Bell City and at 7:30 p.m. #3 Advance vs #6 Bloomfield.

Semifinal games will be played on January 24th at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. with Championship game on January 25th at 8:30 p.m.  Third place game will be at 5:30 p.m.

Sikeston Freshmen Come Out on Top Beating Dexter

Sikeston, Missouri - The Dexter Freshman Bearcats traveled to Sikeston Wednesday, January 9, 2019.  The Bulldogs were very prepared for their match-up winning 84-17.

Cleo Taylor and JeQuelin West scored 14 points each for the Bulldogs, Tyler Owens tallied 12 points and Carson Beaird recorded 10 points.

Sikeston led 25-2 after one quarter, 45-9 at half-time 71- 12 at the end of the third.

Final score Sikeston 84, Dexter 17
