MFA Oil Foundation Awards Grant to Three Rivers Endowment Trust

Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The MFA Oil Foundation, based in Columbia, has awarded a grant to the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, to be applied toward the cost of purchasing and mounting new TVs in an ITV classroom at the Sikeston Academic Building.

The MFA Oil Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations that are working to improve communities where MFA Oil has a significant concentration of members and employees. Since it was established in 1998, the MFA Oil Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in grants.

MFA Oil President and CEO Mark Fenner described the MFA Oil Foundation as “a program that allows our company to give support back to the rural communities that are the foundation of our business. The grants the Foundation awards help support many youth programs and organizations active in addressing and solving community problems and improving the quality of life.”

The Three Rivers Endowment Trust is a 501(c)(3) organization that receives and manages donations on behalf of Three Rivers College. The Endowment Trust provides a mutually beneficial means for individuals and businesses to partner with the college. Center Stage to Perform Neil Simon Classic at Tinnin Center

Poplar Bluff, Missouri - Center Stage, Three Rivers College’s theater company, will present a production of “The Good Doctor” by renowned American playwright Neil Simon on November 20-22 at 7 p.m. and November 23 at 2 p.m at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center in Poplar Bluff. Tickets are $10, or $5 with a valid Three Rivers student ID.

“The Good Doctor” combines Neil Simon’s signature blend of oddball humor and sharp irony with the pathos of Russian author Anton Chekov’s short stories. The show features a wide range of scenes based on Chekov’s works, from the zany to the musical, tied together with witty narration by the author himself. Theater lovers of all stripes will have a blast with this underrated classic from Simon’s library.

“The whole cast has had such a wonderful time putting on ‘The Good Doctor,’ and I think that enthusiasm is going to spill over into our audience,” said Tim Thompson, the play’s director and head of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. “It’s both very funny and very poignant in places, and our cast brings these characters to life beautifully.”

Center Stage is a blended theater company that brings together students, college employees, and community members to produce live theater. It provides both local entertainment and hands-on experience for Three Rivers students interested in the dramatic arts. The Center Stage season will continue Feb. 19-22 with “Doubt: A Parable” by John Patrick Shanley, which was made into an Oscar-winning movie starring Meryl Streep in 2008.

Registration Begins for Spring Semester at Three Rivers

Dexter, Missouri - Registration has begun for Spring semester classes at Three Rivers College, with openings available for new and returning students at all of the college’s locations.

Online and on-site registration will continue through Jan. 9 at the Poplar Bluff campus and the centers in Sikeston, Dexter, Kennett, Malden, Willow Springs, Piedmont, and Cape Girardeau. The semester starts on Jan. 12.

Those interested in enrolling can browse available courses by clicking “Search for Classes” at trcc.edu.  Current students, with advisor approval, can register online through the myTRCC system.  Prospective students must fill out a free application and attend a “ROCS” orientation session to be eligible to register for classes. For assistance or to schedule an orientation session, contact the Welcome Center at (573) 840-9605.

“We try to schedule courses and classes so that it’s just as easy for students to start in the spring semester as in the fall,” said Dr. Wesley Payne, President of Three Rivers College. “We also focus on making sure that there are flexible scheduling options for our students through a wide range of day, evening, and online classes.”
