Dexter, Missouri - On January 27, 2011 the ShowMe Times posted their very first Facebook photo. Jo Ann Emerson and Rob Mayer were visiting the Three Rivers College in Dexter. Three days later flaky white stuff fell from the sky and the second photo album of children out of school for the day playing in the snow was produced.
In the beginning it took several weeks to develop the website. The dream of an all-positive news source began in early October of 2010, but finally emerged in December.
The very first article shared to the ShowMe Times Facebook page was about Bill Hampton and Three Rivers College opening their doors at the old hat factory in Dexter. It was written on January 26, 2011. Over the next few days we will be sharing some of those very first articles to celebrate our 5th Year Anniversary.
"The ShowMe Times is all about our community - the people, schools, churches, civic organizations, and local businesses that make our area a great place to live, grow, learn & prosper," commented owner Alan Hedrick. "We strive to combine today's technology and new media avenues with positive, uplifting, community journalism."
Over the past 5+ years we have been overwhelmed by the comments, compliments and kindness from our community. Our mission is to bring you the information you want to read in an all positive atmosphere. It's completely FREE to our readers! A concept not often found anymore in the land of the free and the brave. We pay our way through partners who advertise with us. With that being said, please make certain to thank them with your patronage. When you see their ad shared on Facebook pass it along to others. They too believe in this community and are working towards the betterment for all.
We've made a lot of changes and expanded over the years as well. The ShowMe Times has added Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat to our social network. Just recently we added Text Alerts and Classified Advertising! SMT Air became a reality in December of 2015 and utilizes a drone to record awesome footage from above. You can even go to the website and order from more than 250,000 photos take over the past five years, create t-shirts, coffee mugs, murals for your children's wall, or design a magazine cover to frame!
On Wednesday, March 16th the ShowMe Times will host an Open House at 140 S. Walnut Street (County Wide Insurance building) in Dexter from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. This is a drop in event with a light refreshment and drink available.
Bring your business card for a drawing for 1 month of FREE Advertising! Have a selfie made in front of the ShowMe Times banner, make it your Facebook page PROFILE PHOTO and enter to win a $25 gift card!
