Maxine Pope, the daughter of the late John Evans Berry and Mable Jewell Lloyd Berry, was born October 13, 1935, in Leachville, AR.
In May of 1974, in Gideon, MO, she was united in marriage to Lavern Pope. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1992.
Mrs. Pope died Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in Jonesboro, Ar, at the age of 87 years.
Survivors include 2 sons, Tony Weaver of Jonesboro, AR and Ed Weaver and wife, Janet of Hardy, AR, 2 daughters, Kathy Clark of Jonesboro and Kari Weaver of Jackson, MO, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 daughter, Karen Ritz, 2 grandchildren, Sean Crow and Zach Homrighaus, 2 brothers, Harold Hamilton and James Berry and 1 sister, Kay Stanley.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 28, 2023 at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M., in the chapel, with Martin Weaver and Brother Paul Karratti officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
Alan Leigh Hart, son of the late Martin Alan “M. A.” Hart and Anita Eloise Myrick Hart, was born on May 27, 1949, in San Angelo, Texas, and departed this life on April 25, 2023, at his daughter’s home in Bloomfield, Missouri, at the age of 73 years.
Mr. Hart served in the United States Navy Reserves and the United States Navy from January 8, 1967, until October 23, 1969, serving in the Vietnam war, and then he was on inactive duty until January 6, 1973. He then served in the Missouri National Guard with the 1221st Transportation Company in Dexter, Missouri until 1992. He was a former sales rep for US Tobacco and a resident of Dexter. Alan enjoyed playing and spending time with his dog, Otis.
In 1972, he married the mother of this children, Judy Christian.
He is survived by two children, Shelly Young (Jody Pierce) of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Corey (Sara) Hart of Advance, Missouri; by seven grandchildren, Dylan (Anna) Bader of Bloomfield, Missouri, Brooke Pennebaker (Joey Clubb) of Bloomfield, Missouri, Rayne Young of Bloomfield, Missouri, Brady (Skyla) Hart of Wappapello, Missouri, Dalton Hart of Bloomfield, Missouri, Kaylea Hart of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Avery Hart of Advance, Missouri; by six great-grandchildren, Kalleigh Pennebaker, Paislee Pennebaker, Harper Jo Bader, Ridge Bader, and Bennett Bader all of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Gatlyn Hart of Wappapello, Missouri; by his brother, Kim (Brenda) Hart of Dexter, Missouri; and by a very special friend, Carolyn Young of Shelbyville, Illinois.
Visitation will be held at the Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 pm.
Funeral services will then be conducted on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Opal Lee Cookson of Puxico, Missouri, the daughter of the late Robert Thomas and Ethel Lou (Miller) Hodge was born on November 25, 1928, in Wichita, Kansas, and passed from this life on April 25, 2023, in Puxico, Missouri, at the age of 94 years.
Opal has lived in the Southeast Missouri area most of her life. She enjoyed camping, loved being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, especially spoiling her one grandson. She was of the Protestant Faith and a member of The Assembly Of God Church in Puxico. She retired in 1992 from Gates Rubber Company in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
She was married to Birt Leslie Cookson on February, 8, 1946, in Puxico, Missouri, and remained married until his passing in April of 2013.
She is survived by one son, Lynn (Gail) Cookson of Puxico, Missouri; one grandson, Thom Cookson and his fiancee Jill of Puxico, Missouri; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of family and friends.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Frank and Floyd Hodge; two sisters, Ruby Page and Mae Holloway.
Visitation will be held Friday, April, 28, 2023, at the Watkins And Sons Funeral Chapel In Puxico, Missouri from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. with service to follow with Pastor Wayne Burchett of Broseley, Missouri, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins And Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
Jeffrey Steven Slusher, 48, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away on April 23, 2023, at his home in Poplar Bluff Missouri surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Slusher was born on September 12, 1974, to Johnny Steven Slusher and Belinda Hribovsek in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was united in married Regina (Hillis) Slusher on November 14th, 1998, in Dudley MO.
He was a hard-working family man, loved his classic cars, and his Cardinals Baseball, He was very deeply rooted in his faith in Jesus, and just really loved to live life to the fullest.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife Regina (Hillis) Slusher, His mother Belinda (Dillinger) Hribovsek and husband (Bill), Father Johnny (Sondra) Steven Slusher, along with brother Jarred (Sara) Slusher with his children Jacob (Harley)Slusher, Riley Slusher, Bailey Hampton one Granddaughter Allie Leann Slusher and grandson Mason Hampton, Along with Several Nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, with numerous brothers and sisters in Christ.
He was preceded in death by Grandparents Carl Freddie and Gertrude Dillinger, Aunt Lora Sissum, Johnnie and Viola Slusher, and father-in-law Lawrence Hillis.
Visitation will be held on Friday 4-28-23 from 11:00am- 12pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Funeral services will be on Friday 4-28-23 at 12:00pm, with Randy West, Josh Reasons, and Kent Miller officiating.
Burial will take place at Dunning Cemetery.
Connie Sue Miller, daughter of the late Leonard Franklin Miller and Bessie Lee Bundy Miller was born on October 21, 1947, in Springfield, Illinois and departed this life on April 19, 2023, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 75.
Connie was a resident of Dexter. She had worked at US Poly and other jobs in the restaurant industry.
She is survived by two daughters, Minnie Masterson and husband Jeff of Dexter, Missouri, and Debra Sue Simpson of Black Rock, Arkansas; by twelve brothers and sisters, Carol Riley (Larry) of Abingdon, Illinois, Shirley Cox of Abingdon, Illinois, Leonard F. Miller (Dolly) of Galesburg, Illinois, Gregory S. Miller (Teresa) of Galesburg, Illinois, Kathleen Miller of Galesburg, Illinois, Michael D. Miller Sr. (Wanda) of Monmouth, Illinois, Cheryl D. Taylor of Lakeland, Florida, David L. Miller Sr. (Jeannette) of Essex, Missouri, Kevin E. Miller (Paula) of Bernie, Missouri, Daniel W. Miller (Michelle) of Parma, Missouri, Barbara A. Renfroe (Donald Boutah II) of Campbell, Missouri; and Robin I. Whitaker (David) of Dexter, Missouri; by two grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews.
Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry W. Miller, and by her twin sister, Bonnie Lou Lunsford.
