In Memory of Danny Ray McCoy

Danny Ray McCoy, son of the late Leon McCoy and Mildred Purcell McCoy, was born on December 24, 1955 in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on November 3, 2020 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 64 years.

Mr. McCoy was an employee of Tyson in Dexter, for 48 years, working as a Sr. Boiler Tech Supervisor, a job he loved. Danny was a people person and he took care of his family. He was proud of his son and great-nephew Zach, whom he raised. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring cars. He was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439 and a resident of Dexter.

On September 9, 1972, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Jackie Mobbs. Mrs. McCoy survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to his wife Jackie, he is survived by his son, Danny McCoy Jr. of Dexter; by his great-nephew, Zach McCoy of Dexter; by his brother, Gary McCoy and wife Joyce of Dexter, and by two sisters, Carolyn Snider of Dexter, and Kandy Koechner and husband Kevin of Dexter.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Rodger McCoy, Jimmy McCoy, Darrell McCoy, and Dennis McCoy; and by his sister, Rachel Childers.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dale Jones officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

In Memory of Jimmie Dale Burge

Jimmie Dale Burge, son of the late Vernon Burge and Aurelia Fields Ivy, was born on October 13, 1947 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and departed this life on November 2, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 73 years.

Mr. Burge was a former employee of the Dexter Police Department, working as an officer and dispatcher, retiring after 40 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter, where he served as deacon and treasurer, and assisted with the food bank ministry. He was the treasurer of the Cane Creek Stoddard Baptist Association in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and he was a resident of Dexter.

On October 11, 1975, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Marianna Porter. Mrs. Burge survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to his wife Marianna, he is survived by his daughter, Jamie Richmond and husband Jeff of Hernando, Mississippi; by his step-brother, Larry Garrett of Blackstone, Virginia; by his step-sister, Gloria Hampton of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and by his half-sister, Mary Blanton of Sikeston, Missouri;

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by two step-brothers, Doyle Garrett and Allen Garrett; and by his adopted-sister, Peggy Brinkopf.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted at Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Collins and Rev. Roy Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.

In Memory of Richard James Head

Richard James Head, son of the late William Head and Ruth Stewart Head, was born on November 14, 1933 in Columbus, Nebraska, and departed this life on November 1, 2020 at Hunter Acres Care Center, in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Head was a former employee of Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, working as a hot walker. He was a jack of all trades; he drove semi-trucks, was a heavy equipment operator, carpenter, and painter. He worked all his life, starting at the age of eight. He loved animals; his first love was horses and he always had a cat.

He is survived by three sons, Jeff Head and wife Lisa of Sikeston, Missouri, Richard Rable of Chicago, Illinois, and Timothy Rable of Springfield, Missouri; and by one granddaughter, Mackenzie Head.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and ten sisters.

Phyllis Jean Quinton, daughter of the late Earl Edward McCoy and Pearlie Mae Overbey McCoy, was born on September 19, 1946 in Bernie, Missouri, and departed this life on November 1, 2020 at Cotton Point Living Center in Matthews, Missouri, at the age of 74 years.

Mrs. Quinton was a former employee of RCA TV, working as a line operator.

She is survived by three sons, Stephen Quinton (Michelle) of Queen Creek, Arizona, Robert Quinton of Vincennes, Indiana and Christopher Quinton (Rachel) of Vincennes, Indiana; by two daughters, Susan Walker (Craig) of Malden, Missouri and Kimberly Quinton (Justin) of Vincennes, Indiana.; by three brothers, Earl McCoy (Pam) of Lafayette, Indiana, Jerry McCoy of Paxton, Indiana, and Kenneth McCoy (Kathy) of Indianapolis, Indiana; and by fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Anna Quinton in infancy; and by her brother, Robert Lee McCoy.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Houltzhouser officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

Helen Marie Pendergrass, daughter of the late Ezra Williams and Mildred Cook Pulliam, was born on November 18, 1934 in Bloomfield, Missouri, and departed this life on October 29, 2020 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.

Mrs. Pendergrass was a former employee of Magna Tech in Blytheville, Arkansas and a resident of Dexter.

In June 2014, in Kennett, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Raymond Pendergrass. Mr. Pendergrass survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to her husband Raymond, she is survived by her daughter, Teresa Kinder of California, Missouri; by her brother, Frank Williams of O’Fallon, Missouri; by two sisters, Josephine Petit of Puxico, Missouri and Louise Sampson of Bonne Terre, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Marisa Mitchell and husband Tim, and Shawn Morris; by three great-grandchildren, Jamie Earnheart, Reece Mitchell, and Corbyn Mitchell; and by one great-great granddaughter, Alice Sturm.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rose Fast.

No services are currently planned.
