DHS Wrestling Team Defeats Kennett 63-18

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats wrestling team hosted the Kennett Indians on Thursday, January 16, 2020 defeating them 63-18.

Diego McCormick, Cutter Cornett, Drew Soule, Alex Townsend, Travis Waldner, Shawn Robards and Kolin Simpson all won their matches.

CJ Greene. Eric Harmon, and Parker VanSlyke fell to their opponents.

Jesus Diaz, Chase Malone, and Hayden Higgins of Kennett won their matches.

Six Local Boys Basketball Teams Ranked in the Top 10 in the State

The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association boys basketball poll was recently released.

Six local boys basketball teams in Southeast Missouri were among those ranked in the top 10.

In Class 2 Oran is ranked #3 and the Bernie Mules are ranked #8.

Charleston BlueJays are ranked #1 in Class 3 along with Kennett who are ranked #7.

In Class 4 Cape Central Tigers are ranked 5th and Notre Dame is ranked 8th.

2020 Malden JV Invitational Basketball Tournament Bracket Released

Malden, Missouri - the 2020 Malden JV Invitational Basketball Tournament will be held at the Malden High School on January 13th, 15th and 18th.

Bernie Junior Varsity Basketball team earned the #1 spot followed by #2 New Madrid CC, #3 Dexter, #4 Kennett, #5 Twin Rivers, #6 Mladen, #7 Holcomb, #8 South Pemiscot.

Monday, January 13th Games:

4 p.m. #1 Bernise vs #8 South Pemiscot

5:15 p.m. #2 New Madrid CC vs #7 Holcomb

6:30 p.m. #4 Kennett vs #6 Twin Rivers

7:45 p.m. #3 Dexter vs #6 Malden

Wednesday, January 15th Games:

Semifinal Games are at 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Semifinal Consolation games are at 4 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

Championship game will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 18th, 3rd place game is at 10 a.m. and the 5th place game is at 11:15 a.m.

Jack Below Records his 1,000th Career Point in High School Basketball

Advance, Missouri - The Advance Hornets honored senior Jack Below on January 7, 2020.  He scored his 1,000th point on December 9, 2019 against Puxico.  

After the game on Tuesday it was recorded that Below has 1,177 total points for his career and the season is just underway!

"We at Advance High School are proud to honor another member entering our 1000 point club for boys basketball," commented James Hamlin, Advance High School Athletic Director.

The Hornets defeated Clearwater 83-75 on Tuesday at Advance High School.

Advance led at the end of each quarter, but the Tigers stayed right on the edge throughout the game.

Landon Dailey and Jaren Schrader tallied double figures with 17 and 16 points respectively.

Karson Fay recorded a game-high 28 points for Clearwater ..
