Rib City Shootout Releases 2017 Summer Dates

Dexter, Missouri - Mark your calendar for the biggest sporting event of the summer at the Bearcat Event Center and surrounding school gyms!  The Rib City Shootout is just a few months away and you will see some of the best boys and girls high school basketball talent from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

The Bearcat Event Center's southeast Missouri location allows them to offer a quality competition and a valuable experience for teams in the five-state area.

The girls and boys varsity and junior varsity basketball camp was developed in 2010 to give teams a setting in which to compete and improve.

Their goal is for teams to have a rewarding experience capped off by a solid level of competition, appropriate to fit the level of talent.

Emily Ladd Breaks School Record in Track

Jackson, Missouri - On Saturday, April 8, 2017 the Dexter High School Track team competed in the Jackson Invitational Meet.

Emily Ladd earned a 1st Place finish in the 800 meter.   She also broke the Dexter High School record with a time of 2:30.25.

Zach Cartwright placed 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles.

Hannah Moore finished 1st in the 300 meter hurdles and 2nd in the 200 meter run.

Blair Rogers, Hannah Moore, Paige Moore, and Rhylan Hillis won first place in the 4x100 Relay.

The Dexter High School boys and girls track teams will compete at the Sikeston Twilight Relays on Wednesday, April 12th beginning at 4:00 p.m.

DHS Athletes Compete at Perryville Invitational Track Meet

Perryville, Missouri - On Tuesday, April 4, 2017 the Dexter High School Track Team traveled to the Perryville Invitational Track Meet.  Nine athletes earned medals.

Zack Cartright received second in the High Jump and 5th in the 300 meter hurdles. 

Emily Ladd, Margo Nea, Keaira Craft and Jadyn Northcutt finished in 3rd place in the 4x800 relay.

Blair Rogers, Hannah Moore, Paige Moore, and Rhylan Hillis earned a 2nd place finish in the 4x100 relay.

Hannah Moore placed 5th in the 300 meter hurdles and earned a 1st place finish in the 200 meter run. She also finished 2nd in the Long Jump.

Emily Ladd got top honors with a first place finish in the 2 mile run.

Madelyn Webb finished 5th place in both the Disc and the Shot Put.

Rhylan Hillis finished 5th in the High Jump.

The Dexter High School Track team traveled to Jackson on Saturday, April 8th for the Jackson Invitational Meet.

Desloge, Missouri - The Dexter High School girls and boys track and field teams traveled to North County High School on Wednesday for the North County Raiders Relays.  Several Bearcats brought home medals.

Swing Pink Set for Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Dexter

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Lady Cats will host the 6th annual Swing Pink Softball Tournament on Saturday, April 8, 2017 with games slated to begin at 9:00 a.m. at the softball fields behind East City Park in Dexter.

The tournament will benefit the Ben Kruse 18FORE Life Foundation.

The 18 FORE Life Foundation originated in 2000, when four friends got together an decided it would be fun to raise some money for a good cause by hosting a golf tournament. In 2002, love offerings were sent out for the first time to families all over Southeast Missouri battling cancer and in need of love, hope, and encouragement.

After losing Ben Kruse in 2004, the event grew into much more than a golf tournament.  The phrase Celebrate/Give/Remember was coined and guided the efforts of organizers, sponsors, volunteers and golfers as hundreds gathered for the 2005 event and over $100,000 was raised.  To date they have given over 1.9 million dollars in love offerings.  They hope to break the 2 million dollar mark this year!

The Lady Cats will begin the tournament at 9:00 a.m. on Field B against Southland.  There will be 16 teams participating in two brackets, in addition to pool play.

The semifinals for Bracket B are at 1 p.m. and the championship at 5:00 p.m.  the semifinals for Bracket A are at 3:00 p.m. and the finals are at 7:00 p.m.

The following games are set to be played along with the brackets:

A Silent Auction will be held throughout the day and the winners will be announced at the end of the day.  T-shirts will also be available.  Long sleeve are $20 and short sleeve are $15.
