SCAA Volleyball Tournament Begins Monday

Puxico, Missouri - The Stoddard County Athletic Association (SCAA) Varsity and Junior Varsity Tournaments begin on Monday, October 3, 2016 in Puxico, Missouri.

Beginning Monday, varsity Pool Play will be in both Puxico school gyms beginning at 5:00 p.m.  On Wednesday the Junior Varsity will have Pool Play beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Thursday, October 6th will be Bracket Play, All Junior Varsity and Varsity Quarterfinals and Semifinals.

On Friday, October 7th will be the Junior Varsity and Varsity Championship games beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Pool "A" and Varsity Quarterfinals and Semifinals will be held in the Arnold Ryan Gymnasium.

Pool "B" and Junior Varsity Quarterfinal and Semifinals will be held in the Puxico Activities Center.

Admission is $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.  No passes allowed.

Team will play two sets to 25 points.  Score board will start at 4 points each with a 27 point cap.

Pool A teams are #1 Dexter, #2 Bloomfield, #3 Advance, and #4 Bernie.

Pool B teams are #5 Woodland, #6 Bell City, #7 Puxico, and #8 Richland.

Middle School Cross Country Athletes Earn Medals

Van Buren, Missouri - The Dexter Middle School Cross Country team traveled to Van Buren on Wednesday, September 21st to participate in the Van Buren Invitational.

The following athletes earned medals:

Gabrielle Barrett  6th Place
Brett Pollock       2nd Place
Andrew Ellinghouse  8th Place
Carter Dorton      10th Place
Gavin Cartwright   15th Place

JV Bulldogs Beat Bearcats

Sikeston, Missouri - Bulldogs' junior varsity quarterback Gage Rolwing tossed two touchdown passes and ran for another during Sikeston's home win over the Dexter Bearcats 20 - 6.

Rolwing threw the ball in the first quarter finding B.J. Hill for a 66-yard touchdown.

Later Rolwing found Hayden Alcorn from 25 yards out and followed it with a 2-point pass to Trent Elliot for a 14-0 lead at the half.

After the Bearcats scored in the third quarter, Rolwing ran for a 5-yard score in the fourth to make up the final points of the game.

Dexter Sports Spotlight - Alexis May

Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times Dexter Sport Spotlight shines on Alexis May.

Alexis is a Dexter Bearcat Tennis player and is a senior at the Dexter High School.

She is the daughter of Perry May and Patty May. Her grandparents are James Barber and the late Helen Barber of Essex, Missouri, and Don May and the late Jane May of Dexter, Missouri.

May is active in Student Council, Foreign Language Club, Teen Age Republicans Club, FCCLA, Future Teachers of America, Rotary Interact, Dexter Honors Society, and Teens against Smoking Coalition.

Alexis also joined Sr. Beta Club, a new club at Dexter High School, and is on the Beta Executive Board.

She received the Doubles Award in Tennis her junior year and lettered in tennis her freshman, sophomore, and junior year.

Her future plans are to attend Arkansas State University and become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

She enjoys reading, playing tennis, and attending football and basketball games.

She attends Faith Lutheran Church and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Dexter Sports Spotlight - Jadyn Northcutt

Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times Dexter Sports Spotlight shines on Jadyn Northcutt.

Jadyn is a Dexter Bearcat Tennis player and is a sophomore at the Dexter High School.

She is the daughter of Ken and Billie Stratton. Her grandparents are Bill and Anna Swinney of Dexter, Missouri, and Yuriko Stratton from Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Jadyn is active in Future Business Leaders of America and  DHS Student Council. She also participates on the First Baptist Church Youth Group. She also won the award for Best Attitude in Choir.

Her future plans are to attend Duke University and be a pediatric oncologist.

She enjoys tennis, being outdoors, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and watching Netflix.

She attends First Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri, and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
