Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times is proud to highlight the outstanding performance of two Dexter Bearcat Football Athletes. Each week the ShowMe Times will choose two players – one offensive player an done defensive player who will be features as Players of the Week.
Leadership on the athletic field is often a good indicator of the future development of our young students and is a perfect training ground for future leaders.
This week was a tough decision as so many players contributed in ways that did not reflect on the stats sheet against the Poplar Bluff Mules; however only two players were chosen.
The ShowMe Times is pleased to announce the Players of the week are Ethan Stevens and Jake Adams.
The Offensive Player of the Week is #7 Ethan Stevens for Week #2 against Poplar Bluff. Ethan carried the ball 22 times for a total of 179 yards. He also completed six of sixteen passes for 129 yards. Stevens also had the only two touchdowns for the Bearcats.
Ethan also punted for the Bearcats. His three punts totaled 101 yards.
"Ethan is a special athlete," commented head football coach Justin Peden. "He played a great game, having over 300 yards of offense."
"I am proud of his effort and know this will not be his only huge game of the year," continued Peden.
Ethan Stevens is a senior at Dexter High School.
The Defensive Player of the Week is #4 Jake Adams for Week #2 against Poplar Bluff. Jake had a team-high 5 tackles and a team-high 4 tackle assists.
"Jake played well," commented Coach Peden. "He hits like a freight train and you always have to account for where he is on the field."
Jake is a junior at Dexter High School.
Congratulations to both of these two fine young men on their accomplishments.
