Lady Cats Beat Notre Dame in District Semifinal

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - The Lady Cats beat the Notre Dame Lady Bulldogs in the Class 1, District 1 District semifinal 5 - 4 and will play the Kennett Lady Indians in the District Championship on Wednesday.

"They played so good today.  They really battled until the end," commented Dexter head tennis coach Jenni Rinehart.  "Malia Cook and Abbie Dorton were the last ones on the court and they did a fabulous job of closing the match out.  Morgan Aldridge had a very well played match with Grace also."

"All of the girls gave 110% today and it showed with the win," continued Rinehart.  "We are headed to Kennett on Wednesday for the District Championship"

"Jadyn Northcutt and Rachel Singh talked to each other the entire time and that got them the win for doubles," stated Rinehart.  "They know exactly where the other one is on the court and that makes for great teamwork."

"Nicole Sells had a hard match against Burdin.  They went back and forth on points and she fought hard"

"Aldridge and Sells doubles match was really fun to watch.  They played their hearts out!"

"These girls are playing outstanding right now!"

Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times Spotlight shines on Dexter athlete Courtney Northcutt. 

Courtney is a freshman on the Dexter High School tennis team and is the daughter of Billie and Ken Stratton.

Her grandparents include Bill and Anna Swinney.

She is active in Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Pep Club, and Drama, Speech and Debate.

She enjoys reading, shopping, and spending time with her family.

Her plans after graduation are to attend college and become a traveling doctor.

Northcutt is a member of First Baptist Church and participates in Refuge.

Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times Spotlight shines on Dexter athlete Riley Thornton. 

Riley is a senior on the Dexter High School tennis team and is the daughter of Monica Thornton. She considers her oldest brother Andrew Thornton as the father figure in her life.

Her grandparents include Bobbie Jackson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. 

She is active in Sr. Beta Club, FCCLA, Future Teachers of America, Pep Club, Women's Choir, and Drama, Speech, and Debate. 

She made the honor roll during her high school years.

She enjoys writing, listening to music, ribbon dancing, singing, and cheerleading. 

After graduation she plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University to study acting and write movie scripts.

Riley is a member of First Baptist Church.

After high school she plans to attend Arkansas State University - Jonesboro.

Cook enjoys being involved in everything she possibly an by.

She is a member of First Baptist Church.

Lady Cats Beat Caruthersville in Round 1 of District Play
Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Lady Cats tennis team hosted round one of the Class 1, District 1 Tennis Tournament on Monday, September 25, 2017 against the Caruthersville Tigers.

Dexter defeated the Tigers 5 - 0 and advance to semifinals in team districts.

"We play at Notre Dame Tuesday," commented Dexter head tennis coach Jenni Rinehart.  "The girls played so good yesterday and we are ready to play Notre Dame today!"

Doubles Results:

R. Singh, J. Northcutt vs. L. Holloman, E. Walker 8-0
A. Dorton, M. Cook vs. A. Mize, B. Weber 8-1

Singles Results:
R. Singh vs. L. Holloman 6-0, 6-0
J. Northcutt vs. E. Walker 6-1, 6-1

Dexter (10-3) will play Notre Dame (9-3) on Tuesday, September 26th at Cape Girardeau.  Sikeston beat Charlest 5-2 to advance and will play Kennett.  The Indians are 10 - 0.
