Southwest Elementary First Graders Earn Positive Office Referral Awards
Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary honored First Grade students with Positive Office Referral certificates.

This award was presented to students who consistently showed the 3R's RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY TO LEARN.

Each student received a certificate and a FREE Taco from Taco Bell.

Brock Simmons Academic Signing with Evangel University
Dexter, Missouri - Academic signings were held at the Bearcat Event Center for seniors who are 2019 graduates of Dexter High School. Students and their parents were invited to a luncheon as well.

Brock Simmons is the son of Westley and Amy Simmons.

He will attend Evangel University in the fall.

Brock earned the Founders Scholarship totalling $13,000.

Hif future plans are to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology and enter the medical field.

Andreus Garrett Academic Signing with Curry College - Milton Mass

Dexter, Missouri - Academic signings were held at the Bearcat Event Center for seniors who are 2019 graduates of Dexter High School. Students and their parents were invited to a luncheon as well.

Andreus Garrett will attend Curry College  Milton, Massachusetts in the fall.

He is the son of Tammy and Paul Johnson.

Andreus was awarded the Curry College Excellence in Education Scholarship and the Curry College Resident Award totalling $70,000.

His future plans are to earn his Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a degree in Culinary Arts.

Jim Reiker, New School Board President, New Coaches Announced at Dexter School Board Meeting
Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter School Board met on May 21st in a regular board meeting.

Regular Board Meeting notes from May 21, 2019 were released on Tuesday, May 28th.  Below are the meeting notes:

1,2,3. Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge 

The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members present. 

He then leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

4.  Consent Agenda:  The Consent Agenda was approved.

5.  Public Comments:  There were no public comments made.    

6.  Old Business:  (NONE)

7.  New Business: 
A.  The board approved a two year contract with the City of Dexter for a second SRO for the district.
B.  The board approved budget amendments as presented.

8.  Discussion Items:        
        A.   The nurse's report was given to the board.

       B.  The building principals reports were shared with the board.
         
       C.  The superintendent gave his report to the board.
     
       D.  The next board meeting was set for June 27, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.   
     
In Closed Session:

1. The board approved the website administrators for the 
2019-20 school year.

2.  The board approved the following aide transfers for the 2019-20 school year.
        Jana Blankenship to Alternative School
        Jennifer Ritchie to Middle School
        Jennifer Hankins to Southwest Elementary 

3. The board approved employment of the following Southwest 
        Building Aide - Allison Sneed
         
4. The board approved extra duty positions for 2019-20 school year.
        Haylee Orf - HS Volleyball Assistant
        Haylee Orf - HS Girls Basketball Assistant
        Rob Nichols - HS Boys Basketball Assistant
        Lloyd Hyten - Head MS Boys Basketball Coach
        Christy Nichols - MS Girls Basketball Assistant
        Chris Bolin - MS Football Assistant

5. The board approved resignation letters effective at the end of the 18-19 school year for the following individuals:
        Janet Putnam-Bell - Southwest Title Teacher
        Jordan Noyes - HS Math Teacher
        Kaebra Sutton - Sp. Ed. Aide
        Ginny Krapf - Library Aide
        Leonard Madigan - Bus Driver
        Rob Nichols - MS Basketball Head Coach

6. The board approved adding 5 days to the extended contract of the librarians.

7.  The board approved transfer of Title teacher from Central to Southwest - April Aldridge  


Items at the conclusion of Executive Session

A. The board approved Jim Reiker as board president
B. The board approved Ben Worley as board vice president
C. The board discussed filling the vacant board position for the remainder of Mr. Bishop’s term.
