Dexter, Missouri - Eleven Dexter educators representing nearly 300 years i the field of education were honored at the annual Retirement Tea on Thursday, May 4, 2017.
Dexter School Board vice President Herman Morse, a retired educator and administrator, presented the honors at the Bearcat Event Center.
Honored were Loretta Morrow, Regina Mick, Elizabeth Spratt, Rhonda Lane, Michelle Kirkley, Linda Hill, Jennifer Miller, Derek Urhahn, Judy Patterson, Tracy Elfrink and Melanie Stoelting.
Mrs. Rhonda Lane graduated from the University of Missouri in 1987 with a B.S. in Education.
Her career began in 1987, teaching at Riverview Gardens High School in North County St. Louis.
Her career has taken her to Laura Speed Elliott Middle School in Boonville, MO, Adams Middle School In Trenton, MO, Clarkton High School, and Bernie High School.
Then in 2011, she was hired to teach English at Dexter High School, where she will end her 29 career years of teaching.
During the 6 years at DHS, she helped form the DHS Scholar Bowl team.

Mrs. Regina Mick graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1999 with a B.S. in Elementary Education.
She began her teaching career that same year with the Bell City School District.
In 2000, she was hired to teach 2nd grade at Southwest Elementary.
She furthered her education and received her Masters in Education in 2004.
Mrs. Mick is retiring with 19 career teaching years, providing a quality education to all her students.

Mrs.Jennifer Miller graduated in 1996 from Southeast Missouri State University with a B.S. in Education.
Her emphasis is in Exceptional Child, Learning Disability, & Intellectually Disabled.
In 1996, she began her career teaching Intellectual Disabilities at Malden Elementary.
In 2000, she was hired to split her time as a Learning Disabilities Resource teacher at Dexter High School and Reading teacher at T. S. Hill Middle School.
In 2005, she received her Masters in School Counseling and in 2007, she transferred from the classroom to the counseling department.
She has served 17 years as the Student Council advisor.
In her tenure as advisor, she was awarded Student Council’s Advisor of the Year and has served on the state association’s executive board.
She is retiring with 21 career years in education.

In addition to those noted above, two non-certified Dexter school employees retired this year. They are Deloris Wamble with 10 years as a Dexter School bus driver and Al Castro who has served the district as a mail carrier for the past 17 years.

Mrs. Loretta Morrow graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1991 with a degree in Early Childhood Education.
She received her Master’s Degree from Southwest Baptist College in 1995.
She has spent her entire career as an Aide, Kindergarten classroom teacher and Kindergarten Title Resource in the halls of Southwest Elementary, providing a quality education to all her students.
Of the 11 retirees honored this year, she carries the greatest number of years in education, retiring after 31 years in the field.
