Dalton Manuel Receives Scholarship to Attend SEMO
Dexter, Missouri - Dalton Manuel of Dexter has received the University Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Manuel is the son of Darrel Manuel of Dexter and Nicole Manuel of Puxico.  He is a 2015 graduate of Dexter Senior High School.

Many scholarship opportunities exist at Southeast Missouri State University - Cape Girardeau.

Congratulations Dalton!!

T.S. Hill Middle School 2015-2016 School Supply List
Dexter, Missouri - The first day of summer is here, but parents are already thinking about the first day of the new school year.

Dexter Public Schools will host their annual Registration Day on Tuesday, August 4th from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Bearcat Event Center for grades kindergarten - 12th grade.

First day of classes are slated for Thursday, August 13th and they will dismiss at 1:00 p.m.

T.S. Hill Middle School has already made available the 2015-2016 School Supply List.




GENERAL SUPPLIES FOR ALL GRADES

1   Three ring binder that zips, latches, or has Velcro
1   Large boxes of Kleenex tissues (for 1st hour)
1   Generic container of wet wipes (for 1st hour)
2   Blue or black ink pens
2   Red ink pens
2   Packs of loose-leaf notebook paper (more will be
    needed later)
1   Box of at least ten #2 pencils

Physical Education 

Gym shorts or sweatpants
T-shirt or sweatshirt  
Tennis shoes and white socks
Master lock provided by the school for gym class

Neldon and Winstead Earn Top Honors at ASU

Jonesboro, Arkansas – Students named to the Chancellor’s and Deans’ lists for spring 2015 at Arkansas State University have been announced.  Combined the group has 2,006 students with the honors.

The two lists recognize students who achieved the highest grade point averages while enrolled in 12 or more credit hours of study.

The Chancellor’s List includes students who earned a great point average of 3.80 – 4.0 for spring classes.  The Deans’ List includes students with a great point average of 3.6 to 3.79.

Three students from Stoddard County earned the above honors. 

Cody Neldon of Dexter, Missouri earned a spot on the Dean’s List. 

Taylor Winstead also of Dexter earned top honors on the Chancellor’s List.

William Barnett of Bernie made the Dean’s List at ASU as well.

Congratulations to all of the students who have studied hard to earn such high GPA recognitions.

PTO to Host Scholastic Book Fair at Southwest Elementary

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) will host a Scholastic Book Fair at Southwest Elementary in Dexter on Tuesday, June 9th.

This event will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. 

It’s a great way to stock up on series packs and all kinds of books for summer reading.  You can even get a bargain early for Christmas!  They have books for pre-k through 6th grade.

It’s a Buy One, Get One Free book fair! Open to the public and free to browse for your favorite author or book.

Dexter School Board Special Meeting Minutes - Wednesday, June 3, 2015
Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter School Board held a SPECIAL board meeting on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.

Below are is the Press Release from Dr. Sharp, Superintendent of Dexter Public Schools.

In open session, the Board:

- accepted the low bid for the football entrance portico from Brown Construction for $180,300

- approved the proposed policy and procedure revisions and adoptions as presented

- approved a BEC rental agreement with Chad Allen for the Rib City related events

- approved the Teacher Mentoring Handbook for the 2015-2016 school year as presented by the PDC committee members

- approved a service agreement with SISFin Portal for a first-year fee of $11,501 and an annual renewal cost of $2580

- approved a service agreement with TimeClock Plus for a first-year fee of $20,289 and an annual renewal cost of $3549

- approved the purchase of additional science books for high school anatomy and physiology classes for $6480

In closed session, the Board:

- accepted the May 22, 2015, resignation from school bus driver Paul Fitzpatrick

- employed Daniel Moore as a certified teacher for the 2015-2016 school year. His expected teaching assignment is grades k-2 physical education at Southwest.

- approved the following coaching assignments for the 2015-2016 school year: high school assistant boys basketball, Daniel Moore; assistant high school girls volleyball coach, Starla Pulley; assistant middle school baseball coach, Chris Bolin

- approved the transfer of special education classroom aide Taylor Miller from high school to Southwest Elementary
