Good news for bargain hunters! The Annual 100-Mile Yard Sale has not been cancelled. It will be held over Memorial Day Weekend as planned; however local Chambers are not highly advertising the event as in year's past due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sellers and customers are encouraged to use caution. Please wear masks, gloves, and practice social distancing as much as possible. Use your eyes and not your hands to shop before purchasing.
The 100 Mile Yard Sale brings people from all over the country to Highway 25 between Kennett and Jackson, Missouri. The three Chambers that typically promote the event are Dexter, Kennett and Jackson.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on our daily lives and particularly events such as the 100 Mile Yard Sale. Participating in this year’s 100 Mile Yard sale from May 21st through the 25th will be at the discretion of individuals. We are unable to guarantee the number of vendors or participants. We are looking ahead to make next year’s event even better. Save the Date for May 27-31, 2021," stated Alisha Trammell, Dexter Chamber of Commerce.
Please check with your local municipalities if you have a question with regards to whether your town has passed a new ordinance prohibiting yard sales. To my knowledge none of the Stoddard County municipalities have a ban as of the time of this article.
There has has also been rumors of cancelling the event or moving it to Labor Day - all are false!!!! Many other states have 100 mile or 25 mile yard sales including Missouri, but as of May 7, 2020 the 22nd Annual 100 Mile Yard Sale has not been cancelled.

Dexter, Missouri - The Stoddard County Gospel Mission will try to reopen on Monday, May 4th at 9 a.m. There are some specific rules that will have to be followed to keep both the employees and the customers as safe as possible.
They are implementing the following until further notice:
✅Store Hours will be Mon – Fri ONLY 9:00 to 3:00 through June.
✅Only 15 people allowed in the store at once per Stoddard County Public Health Department
✅1 Cart per Person
✅No one under the age of 16 will be allowed in
✅Face masks will be required to be worn by both employees and customers. You must provide your own face mask as we do not have a supply available.
✅To reduce the exposure, please be prepared to pay for your items at the time of check out, during this time we would like to control the in and out traffic of the store.
✅No public restrooms will be available until further notice
✅Shopping carts will be cleaned by employees after each use to provide another level of safety to our customers.
During this time we ask that you be aware of the amount of time you spend in the store and to be respectful of those waiting to enter since we do have a maximum of 15 customers in the store at once.
"We want to stress that while we are EXCITED to be opening, that we MUST abide by the guidelines and if we find that people are not, it could jeopardize the store remaining open"
