
Dexter, Missouri - Debbie Juden, Dexter Walmart manager, presented the Regional Healthcare Foundation with a $500 grant to support their Fitness Challenge. This program is designed to help people in the community lose weight and get healthy.
The very successful program allows citizens to be educated in various topics such as nutrition, weigh loss, and eating healthy. The program runs annually from January thru April. Participants utilize team support and weekly weigh-ins for accountability to make sure they lose weight and learn how to live on a healthier diet.

Bloomfield, Missouri - Members of the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for new Chamber Member, Gateway Shoes.
Gateway Shoes is now located in their new location at 302 Seneca in Bloomfield.

Bloomfield, Missouri - Paul Martin was honored as Employee of the Month by the Missouri Veterans Commission.
Martin was chosen from over 1,500 employees who work under the commission. He is a cemetery employee involved with groundskeeping at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Stan Baughn, Cemetery Program Director of the Missouri Veterans Commission presented Martin with a plaque of recognition. Also on hand was Ken Swearingen, State Cemetery Director presented him with a commemorative coin.
Martin will now be considered for the Missouri Department of Public Safety employee award. There are five State Veterans Cemeteries in Missouri.
"Martin is extremely professional and dedicated to the cemetery at Bloomfield," stated Swearingen.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Chamber of Commerce will kick off their Farmer's Market on June 2, 2016. The Farmer's Market will run from June 2nd through October 6th! It will be held every Thursday from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Circle G Ranch store located at 633 West Market Street.
Local gardeners are welcome to bring home-grown vegetables, fruits, organic foods, baked goods, handmade crafts and jams to the market. The cost for vendors is $25 for the season or $5 per day.

Dexter, Missouri - Leonard E. Palmer, DVM, Master Mason in the Dexter Mason Lodge #532 A.F. & M. was honored for 70 years of being a member in the local fraternity.
Palmer, who was a longtime veterinarian, first became affiliated with the Masonic Lodge in the mid 1940s. "Doc" Palmer was presented his 70-year pin by Randy Jennings. More than 20 friends and family members were in attendance of this momentous occasion.
Palmer, now 93, owned and operated Dexter Veterinary Clinic for many years and is now a resident at Central Gardens Residential Care in Dexter.
