In Memory of Ella Mae Johnson

Ella Mae Johnson, daughter of the late Monroe Statler and Geneva McAnelly Statler was born on May 5, 1956, in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on September 8, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 68.


Ella Mae retired from Unilever in Sikeston, Missouri and was a resident of Dexter. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved being outdoors.


On February 26, 1994, she was united in marriage to Dearl Johnson in Dexter, Missouri. Mr. Johnson survives of their home in Dexter.


Other than by her husband she is survived by her two sons, Jimmy Bowers and Steven Douglas Bowers both of Dexter, Missouri, by her step-sons, Dareth Johnson of Malden, Missouri, and Dustin Johnson of Dexter, Missouri; by her brother, Ken Statler of Bloomfield, Missouri; by two sisters, Clara Ellis of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Belinda Jones of Bloomfield, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Kyle Bowers, Brianna Saylors, Zack Bowers, Carter Johnson, and Afton Harris-Hendley; by nine great-grandchildren, Lane and Kinsley Bowers, Emmalin Bowers, Nevaeh, Raylynn, and Emma Jones, and Laira, Noah, and Wren Hendley; and by other extended family and friends.


Other than by her parents she was preceded in death by her half-brother, Donnie Statler; by her half-sister, Linda Stoker; and by her brother in infancy, William Statler.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in the Triplett Cemetery.


Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
