Irene Hendrix

Mrs. Hendrix was Valedictorian of her graduating class of 1942, at Zalma High School. She had lived in California and St. Louis before returning to Puxico.
She was a member of the Life Chapel Assembly of God Church in Puxico where she was a Sunday school teacher for sixty years. She worked in the women's ministry and conducted bible study at the area nursing homes. She enjoyed making Barbie Doll clothes, gardening, flowers and cooking.
On November 17, 1942, she was married to Leo Hendrix in Macon, Georgia. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2000.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary Johnson of Watson, Oklahoma and Bernice Adams of Puxico, Missouri. Many nieces, nephews other friends and relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Sherman, Ivan, Eli, Joe and Lloyd Barks; and two sisters, Goldie Hefner and Bertailee Barks.
Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Glen Epps of Puxico officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
